* At 2:00 PM Saturday the stage was 13.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Tuesday early
afternoon and crest near 14.2 feet by Wednesday evening.The river
will fall below flood stage by Saturday early afternoon.
* Impact: At 14.0 feet...Both banks begin to overflow. Minor damages
begin.
* Impact: At 9.0 feet...Above 8.7 to 9.2 feet, the Corps will raise
the gates out of the water, allowing for "open river" conditions.
This corresponds to a discharge of approximately 110,000 cfs.
* Impact: At 8.5 feet...The Corps will not allow the pool level to
drop below 8.5 feet (higher flows below 100K). At low flows, they
allow a 2-foot variation between 11.0 and 13.0 feet. At higher
flows below 100K, the range is actually lower, between 8.5 and 10.5
feet. Above 110K cfs, the gates are raised above the water
surface, allowing open river conditions.

the gates out of the water, allowing for "open river" conditions.

.SHORT TERM... (Through Late Tonight)

Weak warm front across northern MO and central IL will continue
moving northward today. Upper level ridge over the Plains will move
eastward into our area. This coupled with south-southwesterly
surface winds and plenty of sunshine will lead to unseasonably warm
high temperatures today, 15 to 20 degrees above normal for early
March. Warm conditions will continue tonight with continued
southerly winds along with clouds spreading eastward into our area
late tonight.

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through Friday)

Next week will begin with flow turning more from the SW aloft with
gusty S-SW flow at the surface. Despite what should be increasing
cloudiness as moisture in the column deepens, temperatures should
still be much above average--par for the course over the past couple
of months--with daytime readings in the 60s on Sunday and reaching
into the 70s for most locations on Monday.
Persistent WAA, with more focused lift from a disturbance that will
edge our region to the south and southeast, should eventually result
in increasing chances for rain showers late on Sunday night and
continue into Monday morning.
A cold front will move thru Monday night. Showers and storms will
develop along/ahead of it and should result in our best chance for
rain during this stretch, with likely to categorical PoPs.
A mild Pacific airmass will move in behind the cold front early
Tuesday and will result in only a minor cooldown Tuesday into
Wednesday, with temps overall still expected to be above average.
Surface high pressure and a drier column building in should ensure
dry wx.
Northwest flow aloft on Thursday should keep the deeper moisture at
bay and no upper level disturbances of any significance are
expected. Although surface flow is already anticipated to become
southwest by this time, moisture return if it is much at all will be
shallow, with temperatures on the rise but continued dry wx.
Some model differences exist on Friday with the CMC advertising a
shortwave, while the EC had depicted one but dropped it for the 00z
run, and the GFS similar to the EC. Only have PoPs near climo given
the discrepancies with continued above average temps.

LLWS will continue early this morning in COU and the St Louis
metro area due to 40-45 kt southwest winds at 2000 feet in height.
South-southeast surface wind will strengthen and become south-
southwesterly later this morning as a warm front lifts north of
the area. Low-mid level cloudiness will advect into our area late
tonight.
SPECIFICS FOR KSTL: LLWS will continue early this morning in STL
due to 40-45 kt southwest winds at 2000 feet in height. Southeast
surface wind will strengthen and become south-southwesterly later
this morning as a warm front lifts north of the area. Low-mid
level cloudiness will advect into the STL area Sunday morning.

expected to be attained for this afternoon in central MO and a
small portion of northeast MO, with conditions too marginal
further north and east. Will therefore convert most of the
previous Watch to a Warning and drop some of the northern and
northeastern sections of it, with a larger area of Heightened Fire
Danger still expected for most other areas West of the
Mississippi River.
