.DISCUSSION...
A daily threat of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms
will persist through the forecast period as a rather stagnant
weather pattern prevails through next week. In general, a broad
mid/upper trough will persist across the eastern conus during much
of the period while a mid/upper ridge extends from the
central/western Gulf coast region into Texas. The forecast area
will be on the periphery of this upper ridge and occasional
disturbances moving over the ridge will likely impact the local
area during the period. There may be some increase in the ridging
aloft by late next week which could result in some decrease in the
coverage. Precipitable water values will remain high...above 2
inches...through the period. Other than sea/lake breezes and
outflow boundaries, no low level features will serve as a focus
for the convection. Ample instability and an abundance of deep
moisture will result in the possibility of locally heavy downpours
in some locations each day. Daytime highs will run near to
slightly below normal through the period. 11

.AVIATION...
Currently all terminals at VFR conditions, with the exception of
KHDC, where ceilings have fallen to FL012. Could see a few others
fall that low closer to sunrise. Tail of an MCV bringing some light
precip to KBTR and KMCB over the next couple hours, but not a lot of
precipitation on radar other than that. As has been the case for
quite a few days, terminals will be vulnerable to convection from
about 16z to about 02z. 35

.MARINE...
Currently, wave heights over the open waters are being enhanced by
about 2 feet by swell from Hurricane Franklin in the southwest Gulf
of Mexico. Looks like this should continue for another 24-36 hours
before relaxing. Beyond that, do not see anything in the way of
significant issues through the forecast period outside of
thunderstorm activity. Ridging will build back into the northeast
Gulf and allow for southwest to west winds to develop across most of
the coastal waters over the weekend. 35

Louisiana...South Mississippi and the adjacent coastal waters.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected today, primarily
from the late morning hours through the early evening hours. A few
of these storms could become strong, producing gusty winds,
frequent lightning and heavy rainfall that could result in
localized flooding. The main threat area will be from the
Interstate 10 corridor northward.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday
