* Forecast...The river has already crested and is expected to fall 
  below flood stage by late tonight.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Secondary roads to the river and throughout 
  Honey Island Swamp are inundated. Property in the vicinity of the 
  gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes along the left bank.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...The east and west channels of the river will
  begin to merge. Honey Island Swamp trails will be under water as 
  inundation of the swamp begins.

.SYNOPSIS...

Upper low currently located near Texarkana with several spokes of
energy wrapping around it. One is producing scattered showers and
a few rumbles of thunder east of Interstate 55. The second is
producing convection over the Gulf of Mexico south of Morgan City.
A third is producing convection east of Brownsville Texas and the
4th is northwest of San Antonio. Locally, temperatures were
primarily in the mid 70s at 2 am with dew points ranging from near
70 northwest to mid 70s east of a Gulfport to Boothville line.

.SHORT TERM...

Precipitable water values are not quite as high as they were most
of the weekend, around 1.8 inches on the 00Z LIX sounding. Looks
like the NAM initialized too wet locally, and will trend forecast
somewhat closer to GFS solution. That having been said, with the
impulses wrapping around the upper low, still expect there to be
enough organized lift for several periods of showers and
thunderstorms over the next 36 hours. See no reason to back away
from the high POPs in the previous forecast package for today
through Tuesday. Locally heavy rain could still produce issues in
some areas.

Northern stream shortwave associated with Great Lakes upper low
will gradually pick up the southern stream upper low Tuesday and
Tuesday night, finally pushing the deeper moisture out of the area
on Wednesday. Will keep the lingering POPs in the forecast for
early Wednesday, mainly southeast half, but it is possible that
the moisture could be swept out before sunrise Wednesday. Previous
forecast had temperature trends in good shape and see no reason
for major changes through Wednesday. Only concern is that if the
Mississippi coastal counties clear out early enough in the day
Wednesday, northerly winds could help temperatures in those
counties get close to 90. 35

.LONG TERM...

Long awaited dry spell under northwest upper flow arrives
Wednesday night and should continue through much of the weekend
before onshore flow begins to pump moisture back into the area by
late Sunday. Will carry mention of precipitation beginning on
Sunday, but only in the 30-40 percent range for next
Sunday/Monday.

Drier air will mean cooler overnight lows for Thursday morning
into the weekend with a few locations possibly dipping just below
60 for lows Thursday and Friday mornings. This drier air will also
allow high temperatures to warm up a bit, possibly reaching 90
each day this weekend. While we haven't seen many 90 degree days
so far this season, average highs for this time of year are in the
upper 80s.

.AVIATION...

Convection will continue to be the main issue for the terminals
through the TAF forecast period. Scattered showers a few
thunderstorms will be possible during the early morning hours with
a significant amount of convection coverage likely throughout the
day Monday, although the timing is difficult to pinpoint. VFR
category conditions will generally prevail outside of areas of
convection. Convection impacting the TAF sites will result in
occasional MVFR to IFR conditions. 11

.MARINE...

Light to moderate onshore will continue through tonight. A weak
area of low pressure and an associated trough will traverse the
coastal waters on Tuesday followed by the passage of a cold front
Tuesday night and early Wednesday. Scattered to numerous
showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact the coastal waters
at times until the cold front moves through. Moderate offshore flow
will briefly develop in the wake of this front early Wednesday and
again Wednesday night. High pressure will build into the north Gulf
behind the front will prevail through the end of the week. 11

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Southeast
Louisiana...South Mississippi and the adjacent coastal waters.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected across
the area again today and tonight. Occasional lightning and localized
heavy rainfall will be the main threats over land areas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms can be expected Tuesday and
Tuesday night with any lingering activity ending early Wednesday.
The primary concerns during this time frame will be periods of heavy
rainfall that may result in some street flooding and ponding in
poorly drained areas during the heaviest rainfall. Occasional
lightning and gusty winds will also be possible. Scattered
thunderstorms will be possible again on Sunday.
