A Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms exists Sunday through Monday morning for areas between I-55 and the Pearl River including metro New Orleans. A Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms exists for areas east of the Pearl River Sunday through Monday morning. Any severe thunderstorms could produce tornadoes, strong damaging wind gusts, and large hail. The most likely timeframe for severe thunderstorms will be from Sunday afternoon through mid-morning Monday. Long periods of heavy rainfall could lead to localized flash flooding Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Total rainfall accumulations through Monday are expected to be 3 to 6 inches with isolated higher amounts possible. Strong southeast and south winds are expected to begin affecting the coastal waters as well as inland areas Sunday through Monday morning.
