* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 7.2 feet by this 
  afternoon. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Buildings at the foot of Ann 
  Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water 
  overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of 
  the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will 
  be strictly enforced.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

* Forecast...The river will remain near 6.9 feet.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Buildings at the foot of Ann 
  Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water 
  overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of 
  the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will 
  be strictly enforced. In addition, backwater flooding could 
  potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and 
  Stephensville.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

.UPDATE...
Scattered showers ongoing across parts of acadiana this morning
while the rest of the region remains deceptively quiet. Expect
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop
area wide by late this morning and into this afternoon. A cold
front will move through the area tonight bringing rain chances to
an end and ushering in cooler, drier air.

Lowered POPS a bit across southeast Texas this morning to better
align with radar observations, but the rest of the forecast
package is in good shape.

AVIATION...An upper level low will continue to create scattered
to numerous showers and storms through the day. Lower vis and
ceilings can be expected. Conditions can be expected to improve
through the second half of the TAF period.

DISCUSSION...
Latest upper air analysis/water vapor satellite imagery showed an
upper trof axis over the NW Gulf Coast region, with several
embedded smaller scale vortices embedded within its cyclonic flow.
SFC analysis revealed a broad low offshore the SC/SE LA coast.

Isolated to scattered convection has developed overnight within a
still very moist airmass (PWATS near 2 inches per KLCH 00Z RAOB)
amid the deep layer trof. While the upper trof and associated SFC
low are expected to continue slowly meandering to the east,
increasing diurnal instability is expected to yield more numerous
showers and thunderstorms. Widespread/organized heavy rain is not
expected, but convection will continue to be capable of high
rainfall rates which could yield locally heavy rain events. As
these features slowly move off to the east tonight and begin to
become absorbed within a more significant trof dropping south
through the Great Lakes, deep northerly flow will aid in driving a
cold front through the region, finally ridding us of this
moisture laden airmass and bringing an end to the recent wet
period.

Cooler temperatures (particularly at night) and much drier air
will prevail for the rest of the work week and into the start of
the weekend. A deep moist fetch returning by the latter half of
the weekend into early next week, coupled with at least a weakness
aloft (ECMWF) or a more defined trof (GFS), will lead to
increasing rain chances SUN and MON.

MARINE...
Weak surface low pressure exiting the eastern waters early this
morning has resulted in a light offshore flow developing. These
north winds will increase tonight into early Wednesday as a cold
front pushes offshore. Exercise caution headlines may be required
for parts of the Gulf waters. Showers and thunderstorms will
continue to be possible until the passage of the front, with dry
weather expected to prevail thereafter into the start of the
weekend.

increase late tonight as a cold front pushes through the area, and

the Gulf waters.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Modest north winds, developing late Tuesday night, will continue
into early Wednesday morning. Winds are expected to subside by
afternoon, but are forecast to increase again Wednesday evening.
Exercise caution headlines may be needed for parts of the Gulf
waters Wednesday night, with winds subsiding again on Thursday.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms will return Sunday and
Monday amid increasing south winds. At this time, no severe
thunderstorms are expected.
