* Impact...At stages near 14.0 feet...Some roads upstream from 
  Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the community of 
  Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have two to three 
  feet of water over the road and are subject to being closed. 
  Flooding of forested areas near the river will also occur.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is rising and 
  the gauge reading is forecast to reach 12 feet or higher. Roads 
  upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the 
  community of Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have 
  water on them and are subject to being closed. Also, flooding of

.SYNOPSIS...
Not a whole lot of difference in the weather situation this early
morning from 24 hours ago. A surface high is centered over the
northeast Gulf of Mexico, helping to provide light southeast winds
over the forecast area, with temperatures and dew points slightly
higher than this time yesterday. Water vapor imagery and upper
air analysis shows an upper level disturbance over eastern Canada
through the New England states. Meanwhile, another significant
upper level low is noted over the northern Baja area. In-between
the two, an upper level ridge is noted from northern old Mexico
and the western Gulf of Mexico across the forecast area into the
Southern Plains. The ridge has strengthened some over the region
as 09/00Z upper air data shows height rises at both the 70H and
50H levels over KLCH. East Pacific moisture is being carried in
the upper levels by the jet stream over the ridge and into the
forecast area in the form of extensive cirrus, and thus less
radiational cooling that has kept enough of a separation between
air temperature and dew point that fog formation has been limited
to very isolated in nature.

.DISCUSSION...
Weather features will move slowly over the next few days with
blocking pattern in place. Surface ridge will keep mainly a light
flow off the Gulf into the forecast area, with a slow increase in
low level moisture and humidity values through mid-week, with a
better chance of daytime heating type cu. During this time frame,
the upper level low over northern Baja will remain cut off,
allowing upper level ridge to amplify over the region. This will
help keep any chance of rain out of the forecast and keep cu
development in check through mid week.

Still some slight differences in the guidance, however, in general
by late in the week, upper level low will finally start to move to
the east and be east of the Rockies and in the Southern Plains on
Thursday, moving further east on Friday, with GFS taking it into
the Lower Mississippi Valley by the end of the day, with ECMWF
taking it further north into the Mid Mississippi Valley.

As this occurs. upper level ridge will break down on Thursday.
Initial short wave energy to affect the northwest portion of the
forecast area during the daytime on Thursday, and combined with
sufficient Gulf moisture and daytime heating, a few showers and
thunderstorms will form. With further short wave energy to allow
for nocturnal showers and a few storms across the forecast area
during the overnight on Thursday Night and early Friday morning.

As the upper level trough moves to the east, it will help to push
a cold front across the forecast area. As of 09/00Z, the guidance
is closer together in the timing during the afternoon hours, with
ECMWF still a tad faster. Best moisture values will be over
eastern portions of the forecast area, with progs showing PWAT
around 1.75 inches and Mean RH around 70 percent, compared to PWAT
around 1.40 inches and Mean RH around 60 percent further west
into Southeast Texas. Therefore, pops will be higher over
Acadiana.

Still some uncertainty as to how strong any convection may
be with the front, being this far out. With that said, parameters
not looking quite as good as previous runs. 40 to 50 knot mid
level jet streak does make its way across the forecast area during
frontal passage, helping to rise 0-6 km shear values to around 40
knots. However, this will be mostly speed shear, as wind profiles
become more uniform. ECMWF not as robust with instability as an
earlier frontal passage keeps destabilization down, and progged
MU CAPE values around 2000 j/kg, compared to 3000 j/kg on the GFS,
which has a later frontal passage. Lapse rates at both the low
levels and mid levels are only so-so, with best values staying at
or below 6.5 c/km. With track of surface low and best upper level
dynamics staying to the north and northeast of the forecast area,
most likely scenario at this point is for scattered showers
developing ahead of the front, becoming more numerous the further
east, with embedded isolated thunderstorms staying sub-severe.

Once the front passes, high pressure will build in again, with
dry continental air providing good weather for the weekend.

Surface high is centered this early morning over the northeast
Gulf of Mexico. Flow around the high is bringing onshore flow
across the coastal waters. Bit of a nocturnal jet has increased
winds over the western portions, with speeds near small craft
exercise caution range.

Surface high will remain over the northeast Gulf and Southeast US
for the next few days, keeping onshore flow through Thursday. Wind
speeds look to increase during the night time hours as conditions
favor nocturnal jet, and speeds will be near small craft exercise
caution values of between 15 and 20 knots, before lowering after
sunrise.

A cold front is expected to move across the coastal waters on late
Friday afternoon into Friday evening. Scattered showers and a few
thunderstorms are expected ahead of the front beginning late
Thursday night and until the front passes. Behind the front, a
moderate offshore flow is expected for Friday night.
