forecast to reach 19 feet at Glenmora, flooding of several
structures near Beechwood Church is possible.
* Impact...At stages near 16.0 feet...When the river is rising and
forecast to reach 16 feet, portions of Highway 112 between Highway
121 and Beechwood Church is subject to flooding.

upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the

around much of the lake. Several elevated structures will have
water in them, with many more cutoff. Water covers Highway 394, 2
to 3 feet deep in the lowest spots. Highway 113 downstream of
Bundicks Lake will likely be covered with water.

expected. Numerous homes and camps are flooded around the lake.

DISCUSSION...
The back edge of the heavy precipitation line is currently
centered across St Mary and St Martin parishes at this hour. The
good news is that the line continues to make good progress to the
east so flash flood potential across these areas appears to be
minimal...which is more than can be said for areas further
northwest today where AEX observed 9.1 inches as of midnight.
Interestingly, the GFS had very similar values (10 inches) across
central Louisiana early last week which I initially shrugged off
as convective feedback.
Allowed the flash flood watch to expire as the precipitation is
moving out of the region. However, flash flood warnings remain in
effect across the area until 6:30 AM. These warnings will then
likely be converted into aerial flood warnings through the morning
as flood waters are expected to take some time to recede. In
addition, many area rivers are also in or will be going into flood
over the next several days.
The good news for the hardest hit areas is that the forecast over
the next seven days will be mostly sunny and dry. IR satellite
imagery this morning shows the cloud deck clearing line just to
the west of Tyler, Hardin and Jefferson counties this morning.
Thus, by sunrise all of southeast Texas and much of southwest
Louisiana should be cloud free with acadiana seeing the sun by mid
morning.
High pressure briefly moves across the region today and Tuesday followed
by a reinforcing cold front on Wednesday. Guidance indicating
only isolated thunderstorms as the front quickly swings through
the area. Very spring like conditions expected late in the week
and into the weekend as high pressure builds across the region
yielding plenty of sun and cool, dry air.
MARINE...
A small craft advisory is in effect until 7 AM this morning
primarily for advisory criteria seas. Both winds and seas are
expected to diminish throughout the day. Moderate westerly winds
will veer back to the south late Tuesday. A generally dry,
reinforcing cold front will increase winds and shift them back
offshore Wednesday with light to moderate offshore flow prevailing
for the latter half of the week.
