* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 14.0 feet by
Monday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 14.0 feet...Some roads upstream from
Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the community of
Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have two to three
feet of water over the road and are subject to being closed.
Flooding of forested areas near the river will also occur.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is rising and
the gauge reading is forecast to reach 12 feet or higher. Roads
upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the
community of Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have
water on them and are subject to being closed. Also, flooding of
forested areas near the river will occur.

* From Monday morning until further notice...or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 10:45 AM Friday the stage was 21.1 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by Monday morning and continue to
rise to near 24.2 feet by Tuesday morning. Additional rises are
possible thereafter.
* Impact...At stages near 25.0 feet...Lowest roads beside the river
flood around Deweyville and subject to being closed. In addition,
low-lying roads in Southwest Beauregard Parish are flooded
including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of
Niblett Bluff Park with access roads to camp houses cut off around
the park. Access roads to the river in Northeastern Orange County
become flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 24.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding will
occur.
* Impact...At stages near 23.0 feet...The river is at bankfull

Sfc observations show a mixed bag of visibilities this morning,
with readings varying from 8SM at KAEX to 1/4SM at the Acadiana
sites. Visibilities have been bouncing around through the night,
and with the possibility of dense fog lingering across all the srn
sites, have some sort of mention of VLIFR conditions for all but
KAEX. Conditions should improve by late morning with VFR
conditions expected to prevail through the day with forecast
time-height sections showing decreased low-level moisture through
the afternoon. Conditions expected to diminish again after sunset
along with an increase in POPs as better moisture combines with a
passing disturbance aloft.

DISCUSSION...A frontal boundary has washed out across the region
over the past day, however a somewhat cooler air mass has mixed
in. A short wave that brought rain and a few storms to the region
during Thursday has pushed into the eastern sections of the
country. A pair of short waves are also to the west with one
moving across the Rockies and another moving into the west coast.
As one of the aforementioned disturbances moving through the
Rocky Mountains a leeside low is developing in the plains. This
is pulling moisture northward across the gulf coast. Stratus and
fog is found all along the upper Texas and Louisiana coasts. This
disturbance will move into the plains then Great Lakes tonight
into Saturday. Lift will increase ahead of the short wave this
evening and tonight which will increase rain chances. As the
disturbance moves in, mid lvl lapse rates and the LLJ will
increase. There is a slight risk of svr wx tonight into Saturday
Morning with large hail and gusty winds being the main threats,
however an isolated tornado may also be possible.
The upper disturbance will move across the region Saturday
Night/Sunday Morning. A very strong jet and steep lapse rates will
make another round of severe weather possible. Again large hail
will be the main threat, however gusty winds and tornados may also
be possible. As the system moves by a cold front will pass the
region spilling in a cooler/more seasonable air mass for Sunday
and Monday. Conditions will also be windy Sunday. As this system
moves up the east coast brief ridging will occur across the NW
gulf Monday, but yet another system will kick out across the
plains. This system will push a front across the local area during
the middle of the week with below normal temperatures retuning by
late in the week.
MARINE...Sea fog is developing across the near shore waters this
morning as moisture is drawn north over cooler shelf waters. The
fog is expected to thin during the morning.
A light to moderate onshore flow is expected through Saturday
Evening, however a cold front will move across the region Sunday.
Strong west to northwest winds are expected Sunday into Monday
Morning. A gale watch is now in effect as winds of 30 to 35 knots
with gusts of 40 to 50 knots are expected. Winds will decrease
during Monday, however a SCA will likely be needed through the day
for the gulf waters.
