Ceilings over south central La are a bit lower than most lctns. A few areas have fog that will burn off over the next hour after that VFR will hold into the aftn hrs. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 349 AM CDT Fri Sep 15 2017/ DISCUSSION... Radiation fog has once again developed across the area this morning. With observations at some locations occasionally dipping to less than a quarter mile, opted to insert patchy dense fog wording into the forecast through mid morning. Beyond that, there has been little change to the overall forecast philosophy over the next week. Initially, a weak upper trough over the northern gulf coast combined with daytime heating and increasing moisture will result in isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon through the weekend. The best moisture, and thus the highest rain chances, will be across acadiana and into southeast Louisiana today and Saturday. Upper level ridging builds along the northern gulf coast by Sunday, but guidance remains persistent in developing diurnally driven scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. The consistency has encouraged me enough to raise POPs to scattered Sunday. The aforementioned ridge will remain in place through at least the middle of next week, with the pattern of diurnally driven convection expected to continue each afternoon. Late next week a digging upper trough and associated frontal boundary is shown to be diving into central Texas and while the boundary is not expected to make it through the area, it may serve to enhance rain chances next Friday into next weekend.
