...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 AM CDT FOR
NORTHWESTERN IBERIA...NORTHWESTERN ST. MARY AND WEST CENTRAL ST.
MARTIN PARISHES...

At 235 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Three to five inches of rain have 
already fallen across parts of Iberia Parish over the past couple of 
hours. Additional showers and thunderstorms are continuing to 
develop upstream over the Gulf of Mexico and move across the warned 
area.   

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
New Iberia, Abbeville, St. Martinville, Jeanerette,
Cypremort Point, Avery Island, Loreauville, Lydia, Acadiana
Regional Airport, Jefferson Island, Coteau, Lake Fausse Pointe and
Weeks Island.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

.AVIATION...

Shower and thunderstorm continue across Acadiana and additional
convection has developed over the Gulf and begun moving inland
over the past several hours. VCSH will continue through the early
morning hours with the potential for TEMPO visibility and ceiling
restrictions at KAEX/KARA/KLFT. In addition, MVFR ceilings are
expected to develop this morning in advance of an approaching
cold front.

The cold front currently extending across Oklahoma and northern
Texas will continue to move SE during the overnight hours.
Vicinity showers and thunderstorms will increase ahead of the
front at all TAF sites tomorrow morning. TSRA can be expected with
the passage of the front between 7AM and noon at KBPT/KLCH/KAEX
followed by winds shifting to the northwest and increasing behind
the front. The same will occur at KARA/KLFT with frontal passage
between noon and 4 PM. Skies are expected to improve to MVFR and
eventually clear by late tonight and tomorrow evening.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central
Louisiana, south central Louisiana, southwest Louisiana, west
central Louisiana, and southeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across
the area today. Occasional cloud to ground lightning will be
possible with the storms. Otherwise, no hazardous weather is
expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday
Showers and thunderstorms will increase from west to east Sunday
as a cold front moves through the area. While the overall risk for
severe weather is minimal, some isolated strong to marginally
severe storms will be possible during the day Sunday. The primary
threat will be strong wind gusts. In addition, storms will be
capable of producing occasional cloud to ground lightning and
locally heavy rainfall.

Dry conditions will return by Monday and persist through the week.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Gulf of Mexico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the
coastal waters today through tonight. Occasional cloud to ground
lightning will be possible with the storms. Otherwise, no
hazardous weather is expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday
Showers and thunderstorms will increase from west to east Sunday
as a cold front moves through the area. Occasional cloud to water
lightning and gusty winds can be expected with the storms.

Behind the front, moderate to strong northerly winds will develop
Sunday night into Monday. Exercise caution conditions are
anticipated behind this front. On Tuesday, a secondary front will
move through the region. This will reinforce the strong offshore
flow, and Small Craft Advisories may be needed from Tuesday into
Wednesday.

At 118 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Lydia, or near Avery Island, moving north at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
New Iberia, Avery Island, Loreauville, Coteau, Lydia and Acadiana
Regional Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
