Issued at 500 AM EDT Fri Mar 31 2017 Scattered showers are expected today as low pressure moves across our area. High pressure will build into the Midwest over the weekend providing fair weather with seasonable temperatures. Highs today will range from 43 north to 54 south. Highs this weekend will be in the 50s with lows in the 30s. && .SHORT TERM...(Today and Tonight) Issued at 456 AM EDT Fri Mar 31 2017 An upper low over Illinois early this morning will drift east and bring more showers to the forecast area today. The system was occluding so the moisture flux into this system had already diminished significantly. Rainfall amounts should be light today as very chilly spreads back into the area. Lowered highs several degrees over northern areas favoring cooler guidance given an initial cool marine flow off Lake Erie. Skies should remain cloudy today with the low in the vicinity, but some clearing is possible over northwest Indiana and far southwest Lower Michigan late tonight as high pressure builds into the area. && .LONG TERM...(Saturday through Thursday) Issued at 456 AM EDT Fri Mar 31 2017 There will only be a short break in the wet weather before chances for rain increase early next week. Two more rain-laden systems will affect the forecast area from Sunday night through Wednesday. Rain is expected to develop Sunday night and continue into Monday night. Precipitable water values are forecast to be very high again and approach the climate maxes between 1.25 and 1.30 inches. It looks like rainfall amounts with this early week system will be similar the widespread amounts of this last system between 0.75 to 1.25 inches. Locally heavier amounts over 2 inches are likely. The ECMWF indicated around 3 inches of rain is possible over northwest Ohio from these 2 systems by Wednesday afternoon. After a short break Tuesday, more rain is likely Wednesday. Thermal profiles favor all rain for both of these systems. GFS ensembles indicate moderate flooding is possible in northwest Ohio by the middle of next week.
