...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in 
Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Sugar 
  Creek...Wabash River...White River...Wildcat Creek...


.Widespread river flooding continued in central and southern Indiana
late Thursday evening.  Rivers ranged from near bankfull to 5
feet above flood stage.  Flood crests along the Wabash, White and
East Fork White Rivers will be the highest since May.  Flooding may
last up to 7 days in southwest Indiana.

As of late Thursday evening the crest on the Wabash River was just
upstream of Covington with levels near crest from Covington to
Clinton, and rising south of Clinton to the Ohio River. On the
White River, the main crest was approaching near Spencer with levels
rising from Elliston to Hazleton.  A minor secondary crest is forming
in the Indianapolis area due to heavy rain that occurred over the
area late Thursday afternoon and early evening. On the East Fork
White River, the crest was about halfway between Columbus and
Seymour, with levels rising from Seymour to Bedford, and
little change yet at Williams and Shoals areas.

On Wednesday, rainfall of 1 to more than 2 inches fell in portions
of west central Indiana.  Local heavy rains of more than inch fell
late Thursday morning in parts of Clay and Owen Counties. During
the mid-afternoon to mid-evening hours Thursday rainfall of up to
2.25 inches fell along the Hamilton/Marion county line. Portions of
western Vigo and the northern Clay/Owen county line received around
2 inches. Much of the remainder of central and southern
Indiana received little rain since Wednesday. Rainfall of up to
one-half inch is possible this Thursday night. Renewed rises,
prolonged flooding and higher crests are possible from additional
rains.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on 
  average about once a year.

  bottomlands.  State Road 257 may begin to flood if Shoals gage 
  reading is over 17 feet.  Private levees may be overtopped in many 
  cases.

  river cabins. Pottsville Road...North C Street on river side of 
  railroad tracks and Catt Street near U. S. Highway 41 are flooded. 
  Water is near or starting on Giro Road in the vicinity of submerged
  Pottsville Road. Oil stripped fields flood. Flood gates must be 
  installed at Hazleton.

* At 13.2 feet...Lowland flooding in progress along Driftwood River in
  northern Bartholomew County on April 6, 2011. Double Y Saddle Club 
  area flooded.  At least 6 inches of water flowing over CR 950N to 
  Club. Water is less than one foot away from CR 330W just south of 
  its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd. CR 500N west of CR 250W is 
  flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river 
  bank. Lowell Public Access site is open but ramp is totally 
  flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000S and CR 
  900W.

  135 possible conflict with Sheriff's report.  All these closing

* At 9.0 feet...Extensive flooding along Sugar Creek in southern 
  Hancock and western Shelby Counties.  After reaching this level, 
  one day later several homes along the creek west of Shelbyville 
  were evacuated.  The Big Blue River was near 16.5 feet when this 
  occurred.

  homes and outbuildings surrounded by high water.  At least one 
  residential unit would flood if water rose another 1 to 2 feet.

Friday morning.  Little rain is expected through at least Wednesday.
As a result all flooding in central Indiana will end by early
next week.

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 335 PM EDT Thu Jul 13 2017

A cold front will slowly move through the area tonight into early
Friday, with additional chances for showers and storms, some of
which will likely produce heavy rainfall. An ongoing flash flood
watch will be left in place. High pressure in the wake of the
front will bring a sorely needed break from the recent wet weather
to the area for much of the weekend. Another upper level
disturbance and weak surface front moving through the area on
Sunday may spark a few afternoon showers and storms, but much of
next week looks to be a bit drier.

.NEAR TERM /Tonight/...
Issued at 335 PM EDT Thu Jul 13 2017

A weak cold front is expected to move through the area tonight.
Along with remnant outflows over the southern portions of the
area, this will serve as a potential focus for convective
development. Will focus the highest pops across the south this
evening. Chances will diminish late tonight with waning
instability.

Cannot rule out a few severe storms but the major threat continues
to be hydrologic in nature. Precipitable water values are near
99th percentile for the time of year and the ground remains
saturated from recent heavy rains. Additionally, very high
freezing levels in excess of 15kft suggest warm rain processes/highly
efficient rainfall producing storms. Will keep the current flash
flood watch in place through the night.

Consensus temperatures appeared a bit warm and were tweaked
downward a bit due to combination of weak cold front and lower
dewpoints moving into the area.

.SHORT TERM /Friday through Sunday/...
Issued at 335 PM EDT Thu Jul 13 2017

Will accept consensus low pops across the far south/southeast
tomorrow morning as the front slowly makes its way out of the
area, but confidence is low in these chances. The majority of the
day should be dry, and dry weather will persist through Sunday
morning as high pressure moves through the region.

A weak cold front and associated upper level disturbance will move
into the area Sunday afternoon, and this will have the potential
to spark a few showers or storms. Cannot justify more than chance
pops at this point, however.

Consensus temperatures appeared reasonable throughout with only
mionr tweaks.

.LONG TERM /Sunday Night through Thursday/...
Issued at 255 PM EDT Thu Jul 13 2017

Much of the extended is likely to give central Indiana a much
needed break from the active weather...storms and flooding.
However...signs growing towards a transition back into a stormier
pattern by the second half of next week.

Scattered convection with the upper wave moving through the region
on Sunday is likely to linger into Sunday night before diminishing
completely. High pressure will then build in with a resumption of
the cooler and less humid conditions expected for Friday and
Saturday to start the work week.

The humidity levels will begin to creep back up by the middle of
the week as the high shifts east and southerly flow returns into
the Ohio Valley. The upper ridge over the western U S will shift
back east into the central Plains and several of the extended
models trying to build 590dam heights and greater into the region
by Tuesday and Wednesday. Am skeptical that these mid level
heights can make it into central Indiana as the models have been
consistently hinting at that in the 5-7 day range for the last few
weeks before eventually backing off in the following days. Think
the more likely scenario is the ridge expands into the central
Plains...placing the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley back into a
northwest flow regime aloft for the second half of next week.
Ultimately...that would cause a return to the active and stormy
pattern experienced of late over the forecast area.

.AVIATION /Discussion for 140000Z TAF Issuance/...
Issued at 712 PM EDT Thu Jul 13 2017

A period of MVFR or lower south half this evening with thunderstorms.
Then another period of MVFR ceilings and fog or lower late tonight
and early Friday.  VFR rest of the time.

Line of thunderstorms extending from just east of INDY to just
north of Vincennes will continue moving southeast this evening.
Heavy rain and brief IFR conditions possible.  Quieter weather
will occur rest of tonight as a cold front moves southeast across the
area.

Model soundings indicate MVFR ceilings and MVFR or IFR fog possible
late tonight and early Friday.   Then improving conditions
late Friday morning on as high pressure builds in from the northwest.
