The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northern Martin County in southwestern Indiana...
  Western Lawrence County in south central Indiana...

* Until 245 PM EDT

* At 1142 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Radar estimated 2 to 2.5 inches 
  of rain had fallen over portions of northern Martin County since 
  1030 am EDT. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Oolitic, Crane, Williams, Avoca, Indian Springs, Silverville and
  Burns City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

NORTHERN MARTIN AND WESTERN LAWRENCE COUNTIES...

At 129 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the thunderstorms that 
produced heavy rain earlier across the warned area had ended. With 
radar estimates of 3 to 4 inches in parts of northeast Martin 
County...flash flooding is likely ongoing.
