Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Joaquin Valley - Hanford CA 318 AM PDT Fri Jun 2 2017 .SYNOPSIS...High pressure will build over the region Friday and Saturday before a trough of low pressure moves in from the Pacific Sunday through Tuesday. The weather will remain dry with a warming trend followed by cooling later in the weekend. && .DISCUSSION...Satellite imagery shows clear skies prevailing across central California this morning. Dry conditions and a warming trend will continue through Saturday as high pressure builds in from the Pacific. Temperatures today are forecast to be a few degrees above early June normals. Further warming on Saturday will bring highs to around 10 degrees above normal, with a few areas in the San Joaquin Valley and Kern County Desert likely to reach the century mark. A trough of low pressure will move over the Pacific Northwest and northern CA on Sunday. This will bring a minor cooling trend through Monday with temperatures forecast to remain a little above climo. A ridge of high pressure is expected to amplify over the four corners region through midweek with temps nudging back up a few degrees. Then another trough off the Pacific Northwest coast is projected to move inland later in the week for another cooling trend, possibly down to around climo by Friday. Latest GFS ensemble mean suggests some light precipitation may reach down to central CA next Friday. As each trough moves inland, it will bring a period of increased onshore surface flow. The tightened pressure gradient Sunday will result in windy conditions in parts of the Kern County Mountains and Desert, with breezy conditions in the SJ Valley. This would again occur later next week as the next trough tracks inland. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions are expected across the central CA interior during the next 24 hours. && .AIR QUALITY ISSUES...
