.SYNOPSIS...
Dry and mild high pressure will dominate our weather through
Tuesday. Then a cold front will move in from the west on Wednesday,
and may stall through the latter part of the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 2pm CDT Saturday: Temperatures are currently warming
diurnally under mostly clear skies, and are expected to reach near
seasonal normals this afternoon.  Lows this morning were highly
sensitive to lulls in wind, with temperatures dropping 10 degrees in
areas where the winds went calm.

Wind in many areas prevented frost or freeze Saturday morning, but
Sunday morning will be nearly calm to calm in most areas, thus main
near term concern will be frost/freeze potential Sunday morning.
While thicknesses rise with advance of high pressure, calm winds and
still low dewpoints and clear skies are expected to combine to
produce some bottoming of temperatures with skin temperatures
possibly 5 to 10 degrees below the forecast 2m temps.  Thus, will be
issuing a frost advisory for active areas for Sunday morning.

Lobe of weak vorticity is rotating around the west side of upper
trough that is exiting the CONUS.  Soundings are very dry, and no
precip. is anticipated.  Northwesterly flow into the Southern
Appalachians is creating cloudy conditions over the mountains.
Mostly light winds will continue gradually backing to southwesterly
today as center of surface high builds and moves east. Forecast will
continue dry and mostly clear through Sunday as 500mb ridge axis
progresses over the area.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 205 PM EDT Saturday...The axis of an upper ridge over the area
moves east to the coast on Monday. This axis moves little Tuesday
and remains anchored along the SE Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. This
prevents any significant short wave energy from moving into the area
even as flow aloft becomes more SW and short waves move into the OH
and TN valleys. At the surface, the center of high pressure remains
off the Carolina coast through the period. The associated ridge is
across the CWFA Monday then sags south toward the Gulf Coast on
Tuesday. The result is increasing S to SW low level flow, but low
level moisture return is hampered by the lingering ridging.
Therefore, expect a dry and warming Monday. Temps warm even more on
Tuesday with some low level moisture moving into the mountains ahead
of a weakening cold front. This and weak instability may lead to
isolated showers across the TN border counties Tuesday afternoon.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 130 PM EDT Saturday: There is reasonably good agreement among
the medium range models and ensembles Tuesday night into Wednesday.
These solutions depict a ridge axis over the southeast coast and a
weak southern stream wave moving from the southern plains, across
the lower MS River Valley, and into the Southern Appalachians. A
weak band of frontal moisture attendant with the deamplifying wave
may get orphaned over the area on Wednesday. Will feature mainly
scattered west to isolated east PoPs, with associated low end
thunder chances during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Deep layer northwest flow then sets up Thursday through Friday
behind the departing shortwave as a ridge axis builds upstream over
the central CONUS. Greater uncertainty develops late in the week as
the ECMWF pushes a reinforcing cold front through the region on
Friday, while the GFS has a slower-moving backdoor boundary settle
in on Saturday along with weak, moist upglide in a hybrid damming
fashion. The faster and drier ECMWF solution will be favored given
the strength of the high pressure moving across eastern Canada and
into New England late in the period. The diurnal instability ahead
of the front will warrant mainly isolated to scattered afternoon and
evening thunderstorms Thursday. Gradual drying should then occur
from north to south with the fropa Friday, followed by dry
post-fropa high pressure throughout on Saturday.

.AVIATION /19Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
At KCLT and Elsewhere: Good VFR all areas through Sunday.  Only clouds are
around FL150 to FL250, mostly over the mountains where northwest
flow is forcing some clouds to form.  Weather pattern has increased
ridging through Sunday with decreasing clouds and winds.  Surface
high forms more east of the area, which will gradually back the
winds from the currently northerly direction to southwesterly
tonight and tomorrow.  Winds, however, will be near variable in most
places during the night.  The few gusts to 15kt seen at KGSP seem
likely to diminish this afternoon as 850mb flow continues to weaken
and effects of initial diurnal mix-out fade.

Outlook: VFR conditions should persist into early next week, with
a cold front approaching from the northwest by midweek bringing the
potential for restrictions.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Fire Danger Statement remains in place through early evening across
NE GA with RH values below 215 percent. Conditions moisten a little
Sunday as a southerly flow develops. RH values are not expected to
be as low as a result, even with warmer temps developing. That said,
cannot rule out the need for another statement across NE GA should
dew point recovery be lower or slower than expected.
