The National Weather Service in Green Bay has cancelled the Frost
Advisory. 

The sun has risen and temperatures have slowly warmed into the
middle 30s, therefore the frost advisory has ben cancelled.

.SHORT TERM...Today...Tonight...and Friday
Issued at 329 AM CDT Thu Aug 31 2017

Surface high north of Lake Superior will drop slowly
south into the western Great lakes today through Friday. Northeast
low level cold air was producing some lake and bay effect clouds
that should dissipate by midday. Areas of dense fog in northcentral
Wisconsin should dissipate a few hours after daybreak. Highs today
will be around 10 degrees below normal.

Clear skies and light winds should allow temperatures to fall into
the 30s and 40s tonight, with potential for frost across the far
north. The air is very dry, and should cool quickly after dusk.
Think we will see some low to mid 30s in the usual cold airport
places such as Land O' Lakes, Tomahawk, and Manitowish Waters,
but anywhere close to the hundreds of warm lakes will probably be
five degrees warmer. Comparisons to similar upper air and surface
conditions on the Saint louis University analog web site suggests
a 30 percent chance of sub freezing temperatures just north of the
Michigan border between Land O'Lakes and Iron Mountain. It's top
analog is the night of August 24, 2008 if anyone is interested. Will
send out a Special Weather Statement and have the day shift decide
whether to issue a frost advisory.

Nice late summer weather expected friday with sunny skies and
highs within a few degrees of 70F.

.LONG TERM...Friday Night Through Wednesday

Forecast concerns revolve around precip chances into early next
week, followed by temperatures as a deep trough becomes settled over
the region by next Tue-Wed.  Will continue to use a blend of the
ecmwf/gfs.

Friday night through Saturday night...A digging shortwave trough
over the northern Great Lakes will send a cold front into northwest
Wisconsin by 12z Saturday, before the front quickly moves into
eastern WI by 00z Sunday.  Ahead of the front, will see mostly clear
conditions continue through Friday evening.  Then clouds will
increase from the west after midnight, with a slight chance of rain
arriving over north-central WI by daybreak.  Rain chances will then
spread across all of north-central and northeast WI on Sat morning
before exiting by late in the afternoon.  Position of right front
quad of a jet streak continues to suggest that the highest precip
chances will occur over northern WI as opposed to further south.
Will then see clearing occur on Sat evening as weak high pressure
moves into the region.  Temps on Sat will range from the upper 60s
to mid 70s.

Rest of the forecast...Will see a weak trough pass across the area
on Sunday, but upper support does not look as significant as it did
at this time yesterday.  Will keep a dry forecast.  Then models have
timing differences in regards to the passage of the next front,
which could occur on late Sunday night through Monday afternoon.
This front looks to be moisture starved, but will continue to have
widespread low chances of precip.  Colder air will then filter in
behind the front through the middle of next week.  With such a deep
trough overhead, will likely have light shower chances at times,
with some diurnal enhancement.  Frost concerns will depend upon
clouds and wind, but the airmass will be cold enough for frost over
the course of several nights next week.

Cold air flowing over the lake and bay continues to
produce areas of MVFR clouds over northeastern and east-central
Wisconsin. These should dissipate this afternoon as dry air
continues to advect into the area. Good flying weather expected
through Friday, with the possible exception of ground fog late
tonight across north-central Wisconsin.
