.Middle and high clouds will clear out late tonight and allow 
temperatures to fall into the lower to middle 30s across central 
and east central Wisconsin. This will permit frost to form in 
many areas away from the lake and bay.

.Clear skies and light winds early this morning have allowed 
temperatures to fall into the lower to middle 30s across central 
and east central Wisconsin, with a few locations in the upper 20s.
This has led to the formation of frost in many areas away from 
the lake and bay.

Updated aviation portion for 18Z TAF issuance

.SHORT TERM...Today...Tonight...and Wednesday
Issued at 233 AM CDT Tue May 2 2017

Forecast issues are, diminishing light shower trends today,
followed with decreasing clouds tonight.

Area radars this morning show more steady showers over east
central Wisconsin near the surface low, with wrap around
precipitation over the western half of the state. Observations
over central Wisconsin were also indicating some light
precipitation but radar coverage is nil. Nevertheless with cold
air aloft and a moist cyclonic flow, will keep light showers
around for much of today before tapering off late afternoon from
west to east.

Satellite shows plenty of clouds across the region this morning.
Progs suggest a decreasing trend tonight, but model timing varies
which will impact low temperatures and potential of frost.
Developing northwest winds may produce some downslope clearing
over northeast Wisconsin later today into this evening. A surface
ridge will build into the state in the wake of the departing
system. Progs do not suggests so, but clearing skies and light
winds later tonight with a moist boundary, may allow the formation
of fog or stratus. Not confident with this, and a reason to hold
off any issuance of frost or freeze headlines at this time.
Headlines for Central and East Central Wisconsin start today. Will
highlight in the HWO.

Surface high pressure for Wednesday will provide some much needed
sunshine to the area, with temperatures climbing back into the
lower end of the 60s.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday Night Through Monday
Issued at 233 AM CDT Tue May 2 2017

After a wet April and first day of May, dry conditions will
prevail through much of the period. For Wednesday night, high
pressure continues to move away from the area, while a weak
frontal boundary will approach from the west Wednesday afternoon.
Some shower activity is expected along this boundary that will
move into north-central Wisconsin later Wednesday night. This
weak boundary will move into north-central and northeast
Wisconsin on Thursday, bringing a small chance of showers
as it moves across the region.

Meanwhile, deepening 500mb low well south of Wisconsin (over the
middle Mississippi River Valley) will slowly open up as it moves
east. This feature will cause an increasing pressure gradient
across the region late Thursday afternoon, and especially Thursday
night into Friday. As it moves east of the state, gusty northerly
winds will linger into Saturday. Dry conditions are expected into
early next week. However, will need to watch system to the east.
The latest ECMWF guidance does drop an upper level disturbance
southeast into the area Friday night with some light
precipitation. Will reassess this feature in the coming days.
Otherwise, temperatures should run at or slightly below normal
for early May.

.AVIATION...for 18Z TAF Issuance
Issued at 1250 PM CDT Tue May 2 2017

At 17Z ceilings across the forecast area were mainly in the
2,000 to 4,000 foot range with bases continuing to rise. There
were still scattered light showers/sprinkles in central and east
central Wisconsin but they should be gone by late afternoon.
Expect cloud bases to increase as the clouds break up/exit the
area with the storm system to our east continuing to move away
from the state. Winds should diminish tonight as the surface
pressure gradient decreases with high pressure building into the
region. Looks like VFR through at least 18Z Wednesday. Could be
some increase in clouds later in the day as a surface trough approaches
from the northwest.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north-central and northeast
Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Light snow across the north this morning may produce scattered
slippery spots for the morning commute.

Colder air pouring into the area overnight may produce areas of
frost by daybreak Wednesday morning. Damage to sensitive outdoor
plants will occur if precautions are not taken.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

High levels and flows will continue on area rivers and streams for
much of the week. Additional rainfall is expected to be light, so
a gradual decrease in river levels is likely by late in the week.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight.
