...FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 9 AM CDT
SATURDAY...

* TEMPERATURE...Low temperatures of 30-33 degrees late tonight 
  and Saturday morning. 

* IMPACTS...Sensitive plants may be damaged or killed if left 
  unprotected Friday night and Saturday morning. Some frost may 
  also occur where temperatures do not quite reach freezing. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Freeze Warning means that the seasons first episode of sub-
freezing temperatures are likely to occur. These conditions will
kill sensitive plants and residents are advised to protect tender
vegetation. Automatic sprinkler systems should also be turned off
to avoid creating ice patches on nearby roads...driveways...and
sidewalks.

06 UTC TAF Cycle

Concerns---Breezy southwesterly winds through the day on
Thursday. Timing of FROPA for D/FW Terminals late Thursday/Early
Friday. Otherwise, VFR.

For the Metroplex TAF sites---VFR will prevail through the entire
TAF cycle, including the D/FW Extended. Light south to southwest
winds at the start of the TAF period will continue through the
early morning hours on Thursday. As daytime heating continues,
deep low level mixing coupled with the deepening surface trough
axis will result in strong sustained surface winds of around 15 to
20 knots. Some surface wind gusts of 25 to 30 knots appear
probable and have continued a mention of this. A cold front should
approach the Red River late Thursday afternoon and into the
evening hours. As this occurs, surface winds will weaken very
briefly and veer to the west. With FROPA around 05 UTC Friday,
the surface winds will increase with speeds of 20 knots likely.
Gusts of 30 to perhaps 35 knots will also be possible. Mid-level
clouds will likely increase and thicken through the day on
Friday. There may be a chance for some virga which may induce
turbulence below FL110 late Friday morning and into Friday evening.
This is outside of the current TAF cycle, but may be worth
examining in subsequent TAFs/AFDs.

For the Waco TAF site---VFR will continue through the entire TAF
cycle with south to southwest surface wind speeds of around 12 to
15 knots and gusts to near 22 knots. At this time, it appears that
FROPA will not arrive until after the current valid TAF period.

.SHORT TERM... /Issued 337 PM CDT Wed Oct 25 2017/
After this morning's chilly start, North and Central Texas has
warmed nicely this afternoon, thanks to a healthy dose of downslope
westerly winds and an abundance of sunshine. The combination of
ridging along the Lower Texas Coast and a low center in Eastern
Colorado will persist through tonight, enabling a light
southwesterly wind flow overnight. Aside from some weak warm
advection, this should create enough stir to keep temperatures a
good 8-10 degrees warmer than this morning's readings. Having
said that, many outlying locations will still reach the 40s prior
to daybreak.

.LONG TERM... /Issued 337 PM CDT Wed Oct 25 2017/
/Thursday through next Wednesday/
The brief warm-up will be in full swing on Thursday ahead of the
next cold front. West to southwest winds will usher in warm and
dry air, allowing Thursday afternoon high temperatures to soar
into the 80s. Dewpoint temperatures will recover a little bit
compared today but should still fail to climb out of the 40s. This
will equate to minimum relative humidity values dipping into the
25 to 30 percent range during peak heating. Above normal
temperatures, low afternoon RH values and gusty southwest winds
will lead to elevated grass fire danger across just about all of
North and Central Texas.

A deepening trough across the middle part of the CONUS will send a
strong cold front south of the Red River Thursday evening and
through the rest of North and Central Texas Thursday night. Strong
pressure rises and the resulting post-frontal wind speeds may
warrant a Wind Advisory for the Thursday night / Friday morning
time frame, so that is something we will watch and likely make a
decision on sometime tomorrow.

Gusty winds will continue on Friday but overall wind speeds should
gradually decrease as the surface ridge approaches and the
gradient slackens. There is a low-end chance of precipitation
behind the front on Friday but the lack of any appreciable moisture
should keep any rain chances at or below 20 percent. Cold air
advection will be quite impressive for October, keeping
temperatures in the 50s all day Friday. Winds will decouple and drop
off Friday evening, which when combined with clearing skies will
allow temperatures to fall into the 30s. Some locations will
approach freezing during the pre-dawn hours both Saturday and
Sunday, so a combination of frost advisories and freeze warnings
may be required for parts of the forecast area this weekend.

A warm-up will ensue once again Sunday and Monday ahead of our
next front, which may bring a round of showers and possibly a few
storms Tuesday and next Wednesday. This of course may affect
Halloween festivities, so those with outdoor plans are urged to
keep up with the latest forecasts for your area.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
The combination of gusty southwest winds and warm, dry air will lead
to elevated fire weather conditions across the region on Thursday
ahead of the next cold front.

Some freezing temperatures appear possible late Friday night and
Saturday morning, mainly north and west of DFW, as much colder air
moves into the region.

There is a chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday. Severe weather is not
expected at this time.
