...The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Georgia...

  Big Creek near Cumming affecting Forsyth County

  Alcovy River near Lawrenceville affecting Gwinnett and Walton 
  Counties

  Sweetwater Creek near Lilburn affecting Gwinnett County


.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.

The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United 
States Geological Survey.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flood Warning for 
  The Big Creek near Cumming.
* From this evening until Thursday morning.
* At 4 PM Wednesday the stage was 5.9 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise to flood stage by this evening and remain near 6.0 feet 
  tonight.The river will fall below flood stage early Thursday morning.
* At 6.0 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding will expand 
  into the natural flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream 
  from the gage at Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large 
  portions of the sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway 
  will begin to flood. The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and 
  McFarland Road will be covered with around one foot of water. A 
  portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road will be covered with 
  around two feet of water. 
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 6.0 feet on Apr 28 2013.

* At 4 PM Wednesday the stage was 9.8 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 10.4 feet by this evening. 
  The river will fall below flood stage tonight.
* At 10.0 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the 
  woodlands upstream and downstream from the river gauge at New Hope 
  Road.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.5 feet on Feb 3 2016.

  The Sweetwater Creek near Lilburn.
* From this afternoon until late tonight.
* At 5 PM Wednesday the stage was 11.1 feet...and steady.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* The river will remain near 11.1 feet through early this evening. 
  The river will fall below flood stage by late this evening.
* At 11.0 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding will occur in
  portions of the Northwood Country Club Golf Course upstream from 
  the gage on Club Drive...and in the woodland areas downstream from 
  the gage and for the next four miles until the creek merges with 
  the Yellow River. An old concrete golf cart bridge around 300 feet 
  downstream from the gage will begin to flood.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 11.1 feet on Jun 1 2010.

  woodlands upstream and downstream from the river gauge at New Hope 
  Road.
