What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this freeze warning went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Atlanta, GA wrote its last area forecast discussion before this freeze warning went out at Oct 29, 3:25 AM EDT, 16 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Oct 29, 3:25 AM EDT, 16 minutes before
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA
325 AM EDT Sun Oct 29 2017

.SHORT TERM /Today through Monday/...
Cold front is currently clearing the far SE zones within the CWFA.
Lingering showers on the back side of the front will also continue
to exit the far SE CWFA and should be long gone by 12Z. High
pressure will build in from the west through the short term period.

CAA will continue for much of today, with gusty NW winds. Winds will
be gusty with the tight pressure gradient, and a Wind Advisory will
be needed for the outlook area. Sustained winds around 20mph will be
possible across the entire CWFA, with slightly higher sustained
winds in the highest elevations. Widespread wind gusts 30-35mph will
also be likely, with occasional gusts up to 40mph, especially in the
mtns.

Models have been very consistent with overnight temperatures 32
degrees or less across the far northern portion of the CWFA. There
could be another tier of counties just to the south that could
potentially be included within the warning, but confidence is not as
high at this time that the majority of the county will see freezing
temperatures. So, interests from Floyd over Banks counties should
continue to monitor later forecasts for possible inclusion into the
Freeze Warning. There is also some patchy frost in the grids for
overnight. However, conditions may not be too favorable for frost
formation - the gradient may not totally relax and just enough
mixing may occur. Areas south of the Freeze Warning will also want
to monitor later forecasts for the potential issuance of a Frost
Advisory.

High pressure will move closer to overhead on Monday. The gradient
will begin to relax and temperatures will begin to moderate. Dry
conditions will continue.

NListemaa

.LONG TERM /Monday Night through Saturday/...
Start of the long term remains quiet with no precip expected
through Tuesday night and temperatures starting to warm.

The upper flow moistens up starting Wednesday and mainly affects
n and some portions of central GA the rest of the long term period
with significant surface fronts staying n of the area. This will
lead to slight chance or chance of mainly showers as overall forecast
instability is limited. Some instability creeps back in the area for
Friday and Saturday but nothing to write home about.

Forecast Temperatures will continue to warm into the weekend.
