813 WWUS86 KEKA 080055 SPSEKA Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Eureka CA 555 PM PDT MON AUG 7 2017 CAZ108-080130- Southern Trinity- 555 PM PDT MON AUG 7 2017 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHWESTERN TRINITY COUNTY... At 554 PM PDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Ruth, or 19 miles southwest of Yolla Bolly District Rs, moving southwest at 5 mph. Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Southern Trinity County. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
