Main concern with this forecast is another round of heavy rain
expected to move into the area tonight and persist through the day
Wednesday.

An upper level wave is moving through the Four Corners area
currently with a mid level baroclinic wing stretching through KS and
MO. As the upper level wave moves into the Plains tonight, this
baroclinic zone will tighten with strong isentropic ascent leading
to an area of moderate to at times heavy rainfall. The heaviest rain
looks fall along and south of the Highway 50 corridor. In this area,
another 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely. Since there is already
flooding, both areal and river flooding, have just reissued the
flood warning that was already in effect, rather than flood watch.
This additional rainfall will exacerbate existing flooding problems
though southern and southeastern portions of the forecast area. The
heaviest rainfall should come tomorrow morning as the upper wave
pivots to our south, eventually becoming negatively tilted. Forecast
sounding show very little instability in the region. While I can't
rule out some thunderstorms, the predominant precipitation type will
be just rain. With the upper system pivoting to our south through
the day Wednesday, precipitation may linger in our eastern zones
through Thursday morning. Then, during the afternoon, there is some
indication that showers may develop as weak instability builds on
the back side of the departing upper wave.

For the rest of the forecast, quiet weather is expected with warming
conditions. While last weekend was a chilly mess, this coming
weekend looks fantastic. Upper flow will become meridional with a
large ridge over the middle of the country. This will help ensure
dry weather as temperatures climb into the middle 70s. By Monday,
the upper ridge will be further east and we should be able to climb
to near 80 degrees.

VFR expected to dominate through the remainder of the evening and
into portions of the overnight before rain showers begin to
approach the region from the west. From this vantage point,
minimal impacts expected at MCI with the exception of alternate
min fuel needs towards 12z as MVFR cigs move in. Further south,
heavier rain activity is expected, with low-end MVFR and
potentially some brief IFR cigs possible at IXD through the
morning and early afternoon hours. Otherwise, expect conditions to
gradually start improving towards the conclusion of the fcst
period as bulk of activity slides east.

 Flooding along area rivers, creeks, and streams is ongoing along
 and south of the Missouri River. Several roads remain closed due to
 water over the roadway.

 An additional 1 to 2 inches of precipitation will be possible
 tonight through Wednesday along and south of the Missouri River
 aggravating ongoing river flooding and causing additional flooding.
