The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Cass County in west central Missouri...
  Southwestern Johnson County in west central Missouri...

* Until 845 AM CDT

* At 309 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across northern Cass and much of Johnson County, MO. Up 
  to two to three inches of rain have already fallen in these parts 
  of those counties. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Lee's Summit, Grandview, Belton, Raymore, Harrisonville, Pleasant
  Hill, Greenwood, Peculiar, Holden, Garden City, Lake Winnebago,
  Cleveland, Leeton, Freeman, Chilhowee, East Lynne, Kingsville, Lake
  Annette, Baldwin Park and Centerview.

Additional rainfall amounts of two to three inches are possible in 
the warned area as this whole area of storms tracks to the southeast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 AM CDT FOR
CASS AND SOUTHWESTERN JOHNSON COUNTIES...

At 617 AM CDT, Flash flooding is occurring. Do not drive into flood 
waters. Radar estimates and rain gauges show between 3 and 6 inches 
of rain fell across the warned area. The rain has ended but flash 
flooding is ongoing.
