...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM CDT FOR
NORTHERN WYANDOTTE...NORTHERN LEAVENWORTH...CLAY...PLATTE AND CENTRAL
JACKSON COUNTIES...

At 326 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate that 
as much as 7 inches of rain has fallen just north of downtown Kansas 
City as well as much of northeastern Jackson County including the 
Buckner and Levasy areas. The heaviest rain has moved out of the 
warning area but excessive runoff will continue to lead to flash 
flooding throughout the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City, Independence, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Leavenworth,
Liberty, Gladstone, Grain Valley, Lansing, Excelsior Springs,
Smithville, Kearney, Oak Grove, Parkville, Platte City, North Kansas
City, Sugar Creek, Buckner, Riverside and Weatherby Lake.

This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Missouri 
between mile markers 0 and 29.
 Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 422 and 423.
 Interstate 35 in Missouri between mile markers 2 and 26.
 Interstate 29 between mile markers 0 and 27.
 Interstate 635 between mile markers 5 and 12.
 Interstate 470 between mile markers 15 and 16.
 Interstate 435 between mile markers 15 and 62.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

At 612 AM CDT, Flash flooding is occurring. Do not drive into flood 
waters. Radar estimates and rain gauges show between 3 and 6 inches 
of rain fell across the warned area. The rain has ended but flash 
flooding is ongoing.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City, Independence, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Leavenworth,
Liberty, Gladstone, Grain Valley, Lansing, Excelsior Springs,
