Thunderstorms will be seen across the area today.

The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal risk of severe storms
for this afternoon and evening. The main risks are damaging winds
and hail.

Hot and humid conditions will continue into the evening with heat
indices up to 110 south of highway 30. Excessive heat warnings and
heat advisories remain in effect for most of the area.

Thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon as a cold front moves

...Thunderstorms continue to spread south this morning with heavy
rain and gusty winds...

Widespread thunderstorms will continue through daybreak over much
of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. The strongest storms could
produce wind gusts around 40 mph and small hail. Expect periods
of heavy rain, with ponding water on streets and roads. Motorists
should be prepared for reduced visibility in heavy rain. Do not
drive through water, or around barricades.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHEASTERN BENTON AND SOUTHERN
LINN COUNTIES UNTIL 545 AM CDT...

At 520 AM CDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Atkins, or 8
miles west of Cedar Rapids, moving east at 45 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins, Lisbon,
Fairfax, Ely, Atkins, Springville, Palo, Shellsburg, Bertram,
Whittier, Toddville, Viola, Squaw Creek Park, Marion Airport, Paralta
and Palisades-Kepler State Park.

This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 14 and 29.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
