...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM MDT
FOR CENTRAL ALBANY COUNTY...

At 249 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles northwest
of Laramie, moving west at 5 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. 

SOURCE...Radar indicated. 

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees. 

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of 
central Albany County.

This includes Interstate 80 in Wyoming between mile markers 291 and
303.

EXPIRE AT 345 PM MDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire.  However small hail,
gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Thursday)
Issued at 210 AM MDT Tue Jun 6 2017

Cooler conditions today behind a front that is presently sinking
south across the plains with a few showers noted behind it. Upper
ridge axis will remain a little to the west of the CWA today
through Weds before slipping slowly eastward Thursday. Weak
impulses riding through the ridge will drop southeast across the
area and set off widely scattered convection over parts of the CWA
today and Wednesday with the best coverage near the mtns into the
southern Neb Panhandle where weak upslope flow will aid this
activity. No severe storms expected with cooler temperatures and
low shear. Similar set-up for Weds with max temps about 5 degrees
or so warmer and afternoon/evening convection again around the
mtns. Thursday will be even warmer with max temps well into the
80s to around 90 over the plains as the upper ridge axis moves by.
Convection should be less in coverage with more of a downslope
flow and warmer mid-level temps but any that does form could get
rather strong.

Not a lot to talk about in the long term. Ridge of high pressure
over the area Friday that passes east Friday evening. Shortwave
moving through Montana Saturday may increase clouds and winds. GFS
has 700mb winds up to 50kts across Carbon County ahead of this
system Friday night, so we will need to watch winds. WIndy
conditions continue into Sunday before associated cold front moves
through Sunday night/Monday AM.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Wednesday afternoon)

Main impact to aviation ops this afternoon deals with the
potential of thunderstorms this afternoon at KLAR and KCYS. Cu has
already been developing in the cooler post-frontal air mass late
this morning. Expect development to continue with a few
thunderstorms developing KLAR-KCYS after 21Z, continuing into the
early evening hours. Confidence was high enough to add a tempo
group into the KCYS TAF, but still left KLAR as VCTS until we can
begin to pin down timing and location. Any thunderstorms will
dissipate between 01-03z. Otherwise, expect VFR conditions to
prevail at area terminals thru the period.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 210 AM MDT Tue Jun 6 2017

Expect fire weather concerns to remain low for the rest of the
week with fuels continuing in green-up. Widely scattered afternoon
and evening showers and storms the next few days before drying by
the end of the week. Looking to turn warm and breezy late in the
week especially in areas west of the Laramie Range.

.HYDROLOGY...
Issued at 300 PM MDT Mon Jun 5 2017

High temperatures above 9000 feet will cool about 5 degrees on
Tuesday and Wednesday, but will increase back into the 60s through
the end of the week. Low temperatures are expected to stay above
freezing. This will result in continued efficient snowmelt and
rising creeks and main stem rivers. The Upper North Platte River
at Saratoga and Encampment River at Encampment may rise to action
stage over the next couple of days.

At 155 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms in the Snowy and Sierra Madre Mountains, extending
from Albany to just west of Skyline. Movement was east at 5 mph.

Nickel size hail, heavy rainfall, and wind gusts up to 50 mph will
be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Albany, Six Mile Campground, Skyline, Illinois Creek Campground,
Miller Lake Campground, Rob Roy Campground, Evans Creek Campground,
Lake Owen Campground, Rob Roy Reservoir, Lake Owen, Bobbie Thompson
Campground, French Creek Campground, Boswell Creek Campground, Woods
Landing-Jelm and Centennial.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
