.Low pressure will drift slowly southeast across the Great Lakes
tonight through Saturday. Snow will move into the area early 
Friday ahead of this system. Friday afternoon, winds will turn 
west and bring lake effect snow into portions of northeast Ohio 
and northwest Pennsylvania. The lake effect snow will continue 
Friday night and Saturday. Winds will turn northwest and likely 
disrupt the snow bands late Saturday. Snowfall totals could 
potentially reach 12 to 16 inches where bands persist Friday 
through Saturday with highest amounts likely in Erie county PA.

the redevelopment of lake effect snow. The flow out of the west
will favor higher amounts over Erie County Pennsylvania Friday
Night into Saturday, then transition more inland by Saturday 
night as winds become northwest. Snowfall totals could potentially
reach 12 to 16 inches where bands persist. As bitter cold settles
in over the region Saturday Night, look for air temperatures to 
be in the single digits late Saturday night with wind chills 
falling below zero.

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure over Ohio will move east today as low pressure
moves from the Dakotas to Minnesota. The low will move slowly
southeast across the Great Lakes tonight through Saturday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH Friday/...
High pressure is now across the area although with flow still
from the northwest, light snow showers continue off the lake
KCLE east to KERI. Not expecting much accum with air so dry.
Will have chance pops early east of KCLE this morning. Otherwise
skies mostly clear across the area early this morning however
expect moisture to begin increasing from the west with
overrunning ahead of a developing warm front southeast from the
northern Plains low. Should begin clear to partly cloudy but
will have clouds increasing from the west after mid morning. By
afternoon expect most areas will be cloudy or getting there soon
after. Will have a slight chance pop in for the far west this
afternoon but believe most precip will come after 00z. Will have
chance pops most areas overnight as moisture moves through with
best forcing remaining north of the region. By Friday morning
however the GFS shows low pressure developing over Lake Erie
with the warm front across northeast Ohio. Will increase pops to
likely northeast OH and nwrn PA Friday morning with the event
transitioning to lake effect in westerly flow behind the low
Friday afternoon. Will have 3 to 6 inches of snow Friday Erie
County PA with lesser amounts west and south. Lake effect should
continue Friday night through Saturday and likely beyond
although winds turn northwest Saturday night (see below). So,
will issue a winter storm watch for portions of northeast Ohio
and northwest PA with 12-16 inches possible Friday through

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Friday night into saturday morning is the best window for Lake
Effect snow.  Potential for moderate snow again as deep layer of
moisture arrives pushing cigs above 15k ft and the 850 mb temps dip
to -18c. With a due west flow through the column, the prime
location will again be the Erie PA county lakeshore. Luckily it
does not appear to be a long lived event. The winds turn to the
NW Saturday afternoon as a shortwave moves through and by
Saturday evening much drier air is entraining in eventually
choking off the lake effect.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The arctic airmass will remain entrenched over the forecast area for
the remainder of the week.   Coldest air moves over the area Sunday
and Monday with morning lows away from the lake effect clouds of
zero to -5f.

.AVIATION /06Z Thursday THROUGH Monday/...
Lake effect clouds and light snow showers continue at KCLE and
KERI through the night. Will go with predominant VFR conditions
with MVFR tempo groups for clouds and/or snow showers. Elsewhere
expect VFR through morning. Thursday moisture will increase
from the west from late morning on. Expect continued VFR
conditions through the afternoon however 00Z-02z window CIGS to
drop to MVFR KTOL and KFDY with light snow moving in. Expect
conditions to progress east with MVFR conditions in light snow
KMFD and KCLE by 06Z.

OUTLOOK...Non-VFR likely Thursday night into Friday in snow.
Non-VFR likely to linger over northeast Ohio and northwest PA on
Friday night and Saturday as lake effect snow redevelops.

.MARINE...
Conditions on the lake quiet down today as high pressure slides
across the Lower Great Lakes.   The high shifts east of the Lake
tonight allowing a clipper system to track across Lake Erie.  the
high shifts east of the forecast area.  Choppy conditions develop as
the winds turn to the West to Northwest behind the system and remain
that way through the weekend.  A small craft advisory may be needed
sometime this weekend.
