.SYNOPSIS...
Weakening low pressure will pass over the Carolinas today before
lifting northeast away from the area. High pressure will then
prevail through mid week. A cold front will cross the area early
Thursday with a return to high pressure late week into the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Today: The nearly vertically stacked low over GA and the
upstate of SC will move E-NE through the day. Wrap-around
moisture, which is seen sliding quickly eastward across GA
early this morning, will occur in sync with a decent mid level
short wave that sweeps through around 13-18Z. Steep mid level
lapse rates within a cold pool of 500 mb temps of -18 to -24C
will support a 30-50% chance of showers as the short wave
slides through. A worst case scenario would be for a little
graupel in a few of the showers with Wet Bulb Zero as low as
5-6K ft. rain chances will diminish from W-SW to E-NE during the
afternoon with NVA developing in wake of the short wave feature.

On the south side of the cyclonic flow around the surface low
across our GA zones, a 35-40 kt LLJ will occur. Combined with
steady late day isallobaric pressure rises will lead to breezy
to windy conditions for many locations. We considered initiating
a Wind Advisory for places south of the Savannah River, but
given plenty of stratocumulus cloud cover, we have held
conditions just shy of the criteria of 30 mph sustained and/or
40 mph in gusts. We will issue a Special Weather Statement
instead, mainly to address the concern for the GA bridges.

Weak cool advection and 850 mb temps as low as 4-5C will be
offset somewhat by some downslope off the mountains. But with
mostly cloudy skies our max temps will be fortunate to reach
63-68F.

Tonight: Low pressure surface and aloft near Cape Hatteras in
the evening will lift to a position off the Delmarva late.
Rising pressures and climbing heights aloft will lead to skies
clearing out with the advection of cooler air from the NW. This
will contribute to lows getting down into the mid and upper 40s
by morning. The cold advection along with large isallobaric
pressure rises will allow for W-NW winds to remain elevated
through the night, as speeds average 15-20 mph with higher gusts
to occur.

Lake Winds: Although the slackened gradient this morning will
hold winds under 15 kt, by late morning and this afternoon, good
mixing will develop across Lake Moultrie. This is followed by
isallobaric pressure rises and cold advection tonight, which
will be the cause of a Lake Wind Advisory through the period.

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Surface low pressure will continue to lift northeast away from the
area Tuesday while high pressure builds in. The center of the
surface high will shift from the eastern Gulf to the Atlantic
Tuesday night into Wednesday in advance of an approaching cold
front. Dry air and weak upper ridging will preclude any
precipitation. Expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures
continuing to be above normal.

The aforementioned cold front will quickly cross the area early
Thursday. Precipitation chances will be fairly limited as there is
no significant forcing mechanisms in play and deep layer moisture
is lacking. Slight chance to low end chance PoPs seem reasonable.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The long term period will be fairly quiet with high pressure to
persist late week through much of the weekend. A dry backdoor cold
front could then drop south into the area early Monday. No
mentionable PoPs are in the forecast at this time. Perhaps the most
notable feature of interest will be the return of cooler, more
seasonable temperatures after an extended warm period. Highs will
generally be in the 50s, with lows in the 30s.

.AVIATION /08Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Mostly VFR weather will prevail through 06Z Tuesday, except for
a few hours of MVFR ceilings and occasional SHRA as weak low
pressure and ample low-mid level moisture moves through from
around 14-19Z.

Deeper mixing tapping into a 35-40 kt low level jet today and
then large isallobaric pressure rises plus cold advection
tonight will lead to breezy to windy conditions at KCHS and KSAV
through the majority of the forecast cycle.

.MARINE...
Today: The influx of cooler air and the cyclonic flow around low
pressure moving from GA through the Carolinas will lead to solid
SCA's for all near shore waters and in Charleston Harbor. Across
the outer GA waters will have a Gale Warning still in effect
where the best mixing potential will continue. Over the Atlantic
waters W-SW winds will average 20-25 kt, except 25-30 kt with
gusts near 35 kt across AMZ354. Seas will range from 4 ft near
the immediate coast to as high as 6 or 7 ft near 20 nm out, and
up to 9 or even 10 ft closer to 60 nm offshore.

In Charleston Harbor those same W-SW winds will climb from 15
kt or less early this morning to 20-25 kt late in the morning
and this afternoon. waves of 1-2 ft will be common once the
stronger winds set in.

Tonight: Steady isallobaric pressure rises and cold advection
will lead to at least a continuation of the SCA's on the
nearshore waters and in Charleston Harbor, and the Gale Warning
for AMZ374. It is plausible that Gales could occur across some
of the other waters, so this potential is addressed in the
Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Tuesday through Saturday: Marine conditions will be improving on
Tuesday as surface low pressure lifts northeast away from the area
and the pressure gradient slackens. All waters should be below small
craft advisory criteria by mid-day. High pressure will then prevail
through mid week with no issues expected. A cold front will cross
the waters early Thursday with another round of small craft
advisories possible. Elevated winds/seas could persist into late
week.

AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING...

Winds will increase across southeast Georgia this afternoon into
this evening, as low pressure pulls away to the northeast. The
pressure gradient will tighten behind the departing low, and west
and southwest winds will increase to 20-25 mph, with gusts of
30-35 mph at times.

Winds on some of the bridges and overpasses may be even stronger.
This includes...the Talmadge Memorial Bridge and overpasses on
Interstate 95.
