13Z tomorrow for all zone our CWA. No further significant
changes to previous update.
Previous Discussion...
An area of moisture rotating around low pressure centered near
Labrador will move south across the region today. An area of
light snow will move south across the region this morning,
mostly across northern and eastern areas with snow
accumulations an inch or less. Isolated/scattered snow showers
will then persist this afternoon. Otherwise, expect
partly/mostly cloudy skies across the forecast area today. Gusty
west to northwest winds will also persist today along with very
cold temperatures. Wind Chill Warnings are in effect across
northwest portions of the forecast area this morning, with Wind
Chill Advisories across the remainder of the forecast area.
Partly cloudy/mostly clear skies are expected across the
forecast area tonight with high pressure building toward the
region. High temperatures today will range from the single
digits above and below zero north, to around 5 above interior
Downeast with 5 to 10 above along the Downeast coast. Low
temperatures tonight will range from 10 to 20 below zero north,
to 10 to 15 below zero interior Downeast with 5 to 10 below zero
along the Downeast coast.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
A trough of low pressure is expected to persist in the Gulf of
Maine Friday and Saturday. This system may spread light snow
into coastal areas during the day Friday into Friday night,
however accumulation of snow is expected to be less than 1 inch.
Will use Snow Ratio for snow amounts. Weak high pressure is
then expected to move in from the west Saturday and Saturday
night. A very cold air mass is expected to remain over the
region through the day Saturday. Have used a 50/50 blend of the
GFS and ECMWF for pops and QPF.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
A cold air mass will remain over the region Sunday and Monday
and will combine with a strong northerly flow to produce low
wind chills. An are of low pressure is expected to approach from
the west Tuesday and move across the region Tuesday night into
Wednesday. This may result in a period of light snow. Cold
temperatures are expected to continue through the middle of the
week.

.AVIATION /17Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
NEAR TERM: VFR/MVFR, with occasional IFR, conditions are
expected across northern areas this morning, with occasional
MVFR conditions possible across the remainder of the forecast
area. Generally expect VFR conditions across the entire region
this afternoon, though local MVFR conditions could occur with
any snow showers or blowing snow. West to northwest winds will
gust to 25 to 30 mph today. VFR conditions are expected across
the entire region tonight.
SHORT TERM: Expect MVFR/IFR conditions Friday and Friday night
KBHB, otherwise VFR conditions are expected Friday through
Monday.

NEAR TERM: Have transitioned the Gale Warning to a Small Craft
Advisory. A Small Craft Advisory is now in effect across all the
waters through tonight. A Freezing Spray Advisory has been
issued for the intracoastal waters and western portions of the

Light freezing spray is expected across eastern portions of the
coastal waters.
SHORT TERM: Will use the NAM for sustained winds through
Saturday night then transition to the Super Blend winds. For
Waves: The primary wave system through the weekend is expected
to be off-shore wind wave. Wave heights will be a function of
fetch distance from shore. Will use the NWPS to initialize wave
