.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)

At 3 AM, cyclonic flow continued produce extensive cloudiness and
scattered showers across the area. The 02.00z models are in good
agreement that the cyclonic flow will continue into the early
afternoon and then a ridge of high pressure will build across the
region. As this occurs, skies will gradually clear from mid
afternoon into the evening.
The combination of a tight pressure surface pressure gradient and
steep 900 to 850 mb lapse rates (around 8 C/km) will keep it
rather breezy today. Sustained northwest winds will remain in the
10 to 20 mph range and the wind gusts will range from 20 to
30 mph.
With a surface ridge over western and central Wisconsin overnight,
skies will be mostly clear and winds will be light and variable.
This will result in temperatures in central Wisconsin falling into
the mid and upper 20s and into the lower and mid 30s across
southwest and west-central Wisconsin. Due to this, expect areas to
widespread frost developing in these areas; therefore, we will be
issuing a Frost Advisory for these areas. As far as Clark County,
we are waiting to hear more on the growth progress in this area.
Due to this, kept them maybe on Frost/Freeze Headlines for now.
.LONG TERM...(Wednesday through Monday)

On Thursday, a weak short wave trough will move across the area.
With surface based CAPES climbing up to 200 J/kg and 900 to 800 mb
lapse rates up to 8 C/km, kept the mention of isolated to
scattered showers in the forecast for areas along and north of
Interstate 94.
From Friday night into Saturday morning, another short wave trough
will move quickly south across the area. Soundings suggest that
there will be some ice crystal seeding north of Interstate 94, so
cannot rule out a rain/snow mix there. Elsewhere, it looks like it
will be primarily rain. With very dry air below 800 mb and
considering the speed of this system, precipitation amounts look
to be light.

Precipitation continues to slowly wane as large closed upper low
moves through Great Lakes. Broad cyclonic flow is holding widespread
stratus deck with MVFR ceilings in place, along with occasional
light rain or drizzle. Even a few snow flakes from time to time.
Winds have also been on the increase as gradient region on backside
of departing system moves through tonight.
While overall trend will be for gradual improvement in flight
categories going into Tuesday, it will be a slow one. MVFR ceilings
will likely hold on well into day on Tuesday before gradually
lifting and clearing late in the day. 02.00z guidance still coming
in but continues idea of drying from west as short term ridging
moves in.
While just outside the time span of this forecast, will have to
watch Tuesday night as ridge axis moves across and skies clear late.
Could see some patchy, low-level fog develop in favored valleys.
