Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon into early tonight. There is a marginal risk for severe weather. A few thunderstorms will have the potential to produce gusty winds and hail approaching severe limits, and locally heavy rainfall which could lead to ponding of water in low lying, poor drainage and urban areas. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. There is a marginal to slight risk for severe thunderstorms late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, as a cold front moves across the region. Damaging winds gusts would be the greatest potential hazard from these thunderstorms, along with frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. In addition, locally heavy rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low lying, poor drainage and urban areas Friday night into Saturday morning. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions according to Standard Operating Procedures.

At 1242 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 8 miles southeast of Eighth Lake Campground, or 13 miles northwest of Speculator, moving northeast at 10 mph. Winds up to 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this storm. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of central Hamilton County. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. At 119 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Moffitt Beach Campground, or near Speculator, moving northeast at 10 mph. Winds around 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm. This storm will be near... Speculator around 145 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this storm include Griffin, Gilmantown, Girards Sugarbush and Perkins Clearing. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
