Northern Alaska Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 548 AM AKDT Sat Apr 15 2017 .DISCUSSION... Models in decent agreement through 60 hours. Strong upper level high over the high arctic continues to dominate most all of Alaska. Upper level low southeast of Inuvik will keep gradient tight over most of the Arctic Coast through late tonight. Arctic front from low in Eastern Canada well defined by surface date and fairly well seen on satellite data. Any precipitation along the arctic front draped through the eastern part of the state and then back up through northwest Alaska will be extremely light in any. The surface gradient over the central portion of the state will continue to fluctuate around but expect some gusty winds over a majority of the higher terrain. Areas of fog and stratus will continue to over the Arctic Coast but mainly at night and early morning before burning off during the day. The remainder of the forecast area will be very benign for the next couple of days as the pattern as the upper level ridging stays in control. && .FIRE WEATHER... && .AFG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
