.DISCUSSION...
The models are in decent agreement, particularly in their handling
of the system approaching our northwest arctic coast. Recent model
runs have persuaded us to tweak the advisory level winds (just a
headline) presently in effect for our zone 201 up to a high wind
warning for the portion of the area from Icy Cape west. The models
also agree in weakening the front and diminishing the winds
tonight before the front itself and its associated precipitation
actually reaches the coast. Looks like there won't be much
precipitation in any event. The feature is expected to dissipate
before reaching Cape Halkett and points east, nor will it make it
very far south of Cape Lisburne.

The low aloft near Shemya, and the various short waves that it
will be slinging northward, also appear to be pretty handled
well. The timing is consistent through Monday, at least. All of
the models move some precipitation up the coast starting Sunday
night, and none of them have much of the stuff over northern
Alaska until Tuesday at the earliest.

The atmosphere over our central Interior has stabilized somewhat,
and the most active convection will likely be confined to the
Upper Tanana Valley and the Fortymile Country, and adjacent
areas of our zones 220 and 226.

Upper Tanana Valley and the Fortymile Country-
Including Tok, Tanacross, Eagle, Tetlin, Northway, Alcan,
Chicken, and Boundary

Numerous rain showers and scattered thunderstorms are occuring
this afternoon in the Upper Tanana valley and the Fortymile
County. Showers will continue this evening before tapering off
overnight. Some areas may see an additional quarter to half inch
of rain between now and early tomorrow morning. In addition, some
of the thunderstorm may produce small hail.

Many small streams or creeks in the area will see rapid rises with
some approaching bankfull. Some isolated minor flooding of small
creeks and streams is possible. Area rivers will also see rises
over the next day as well, but at this time flooding is not
expected.

People with outdoor plans in the area should be aware that water
on area creeks and rivers will be higher than normal and that
some gravel bars may be under water.
