.DISCUSSION...
Models in decent agreement through 48 hours. Upper low moving
north from Bering Sea Coast just east of Kamchatka Peninsula.
Upper low will move north to the Arctic Coast of Russia by Sun
afternoon.

Massive upper high centered in the Gulf of Alaska will be the main
synoptic feature for the next several days. As the upper level low
continues to push north of the Russian Arctic Coast it will
continue on well into the high arctic and then flatten out the
upper level ridge. This will establish more zonal flow over the
state beginning Tuesday night and then continue through about
Thursday.

Current surface low nearly vertically stacked with the upper level
low near Kamchatka Peninsula with cold front extending through
central Bering Sea. Very strong 958 mb low combined with a 1042 mb
high in the Gulf of Alaska is setting up a very strong pressure
gradient along the West Coast. This will create blizzard
conditions for many areas on the West Coast through early Saturday
morning.

With the ridge nearly stationary the fire hose effect of moisture
will continue to be positioned right over the Lower Kobuk and
Noatak Valleys beginning tonight and continuing through late
Sunday evening. The possibility exists for an excess of 2 feet of
snow for mountains in this area. The Southern Seward Peninsula is
another location where the models really key in on for moisture
dumping. The precipitation along the coastal areas will likely
switch over to rain shortly but the higher inland hills could be
all snow which would lead to heavy accumulations of snow.
