A 1040 MB HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER SIBERIA AND EXTENDING EASTWARD
TO THE WESTERN NORTH SLOPE AND BERING STRAIT WILL REMAIN IN PLACE
THROUGH FRIDAY. A COLD FRONT OVER THE BROOKS RANGE WILL PUSH 
SOUTH INTO SOUTHER INTERIOR THURSDAY.

.DISCUSSION...
Models very similar through 60 hours with only minor variations in
synoptic features. First cold front is has pushed to the Brooks
Range and will continue to push south.

A surge of low level moisture has pushed up into the the Western
and Central Interior and is making it around the Alaska Range
towards Northway. This does have some light snow associated with
it.

The strong upper level low that has been driving the arctic front
southward will reach Banks Island from the northwest by late this
afternoon. Several small centers will develop within the complex
low center and will push another reinforcing shot of cold air down
to the Arctic Slope by late Wednesday night. Again, another round
of light snow and stronger winds will develop ahead of the arctic
front by this afternoon over the Arctic Coast.

As the second wave of cold air pushes to the Arctic Slope today
expect winds to increase again in the Eastern Arctic and blizzard
conditions to redevelop once again.

The cold air will reside over Northern Alaska trough the end of
the weekend. How low the minimum temperatures will be will depend
as usual, on the whereabouts of the clouds.The beginning of next
week the upper level ridge begins building in over Eastern and
Central Mainland Alaska. This will send much warmer temperatures
aloft back into Northern Alaska. The air should mix rather well
considering the chinook flow that will accompany the ridge.
