.DISCUSSION...

Aloft...
A long wave pattern consisting of a ridge over the Bering Sea and
West Coast of Alaska with a trough over NW Canada and Eastern
Alaska will persist through the week. A series of strong short
wave troughs will move through the ridge and into the West Coast
of Alaska every 2 days or so keeping the very stormy pattern
through the week. The West Coast and Western Interior and Arctic
can expect strong winds, heavy snow, possible blizzards and
the potential for some coastal flooding with each of these
storms. The Eastern Interior will remain cold through the week.

Surface... A 978 mb low over the Chukotsk Peninsula will move to
near McGrath as a 990 mb low by 4pm Sun, then move southeast. A
Strong low in the Sea of Okhotsk will move to just west of Anadyr
as a 978 mb low by 3pm Mon, and to the southern Chukchi Sea as a
975 mb low by 3pm Tue.

Expect another round of snow for zones 213 and 214 monday evening
into Tuesday and and possible heavy snow over the remainder of
the west coast Tuesday into Wednesday. Have issued a blizzard
warning for zone 213 and winter storm watches for northern west
coast zones starting on Tuesday. Heavy snow will spread across
the west coast by 4am Tuesday morning and persist into Wednesday
morning. Strong winds may produce local blizzard conditions in
some areas Tuesday morning.

Interior...Winds should be diminishing near Delta junction and the
Alaska range this evening. The western interior may see some snow
move in Tuesday morning into Tuesday evening before tapering off
Wednesday morning. Snow accumulations around 2 inches are possible
for the western interior. Snow may make it into the middle tanana
valley and drop one inch or so before tapering off Wednesday
morning.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...
High surf advisories along the coast of 212 and 214 will expire
by 6am Monday. Potential for Coastal Flooding Along the West Coast
Tue into Wed but still much uncertainty as to occurrence and
locations due to model differences at that time range. Will
continue to monitor.
