A 1004 mb low 135 nm southwest of Mekoryuk moves to 100 nm west of
Saint George at 1009 mb late tonight...then is absorbed into a 
second low. The second 1010 mb low 150 nm south of Cold Bay 
remains nearly stationary through late Sat night while deepening 
to 1003 mb. High pressure over the Western Bering persists through
late Sat night.

.ANALYSIS AND UPPER LEVELS...
Satellite imagery depicts a frontal boundary from the interior to
the Alaskan Peninsula and the Aleutians. This system has been
sustaining widespread rainfall across much of the domain, along
with gusty winds. Along southeast Alaska spans a ridge axis that
continues to build and noses its way into the mainland.

.MODEL DISCUSSION...
Models are in good agreement in the short term with the main
synoptic features. However, there are some vagaries with respect
to storm total precipitation amounts for the Anchorage Bowl,
Matanuska Valley, and northern Kenai Peninsula. As time elapses
the NCEP RMOP-Relative Measure Of Predictability transitions
towards less confident territory as the next shot of cold air
comes down from the Bering.

PANC...With the edge of the frontal boundary entering southcentral
Alaska expect the cigs the vary the next 36 hrs at PANC.

.SHORT TERM FORECAST SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA (Days 1 and 2)...
A weak frontal boundary draped across southwest and southcentral
Alaska will continue to bring rain to the area this morning. The
NE/SW orientation of the front will focus precipitation from the
west side of Cook Inlet north through the Middle Susitna Valley,
with lighter precipitation falling on the northern half of the Kenai
Peninsula and the Anchorage Bowl. An upper level ridge building
in from the southeast will begin to push the weakened frontal
boundary and the corresponding precipitation back towards the west
today, with precipitation tapering off more most locations across
southcentral by later this afternoon, though the Middle Susitna
Valley will see rain hang around until the overnight hours. The
building ridge will usher in clearing skies and much warmer
temperatures by the weekend, with high temps increasing from the
upper 60's to low 70's on Friday to the low to mid 70's on
Saturday.

.SHORT TERM FORECAST SOUTHWEST ALASKA (Days 1 and 2)...
A low centered between Nunivak Island and the Pribilofs is
directing a stream of moisture northeastward into Southwest Alaska
this morning. Numerous showers continue across Bristol Bay and the
Lower Kuskokwim Valley, tapering off along the Alaska Range, and
also across the Kuskokwim Delta. With time, the axis of heaviest
and most numerous shower activity will drift westward while
diminishing, as the surface low over the Bering pivots westward.

The showers will continue diminishing overnight except in points
west of Dillingham, where upslope across the Kilbucks and Wood
River Mountains will continue to effectively squeeze out the
incoming moisture in the form of rain. Elsewhere, the showers will
become more isolated.

On Friday, most areas should stay dry, though chances of showers
will remain, especially along the coast. The upslope across the
Kilbucks and Wood River Mountains will continue through much of
the day, so that will be the one area expected to continue picking
up steady rainfall.

More sunshine will return to inland locations Saturday which along
with a building thermal trough should make Saturday the warmest
day across much of Southwest Alaska in nearly two weeks.

.SHORT TERM FORECAST BERING SEA/ALEUTIANS (Days 1 and 2)...
The broken record forecast continues over much of the Bering. The
aforementioned low between Nunivak Island and the Pribilofs will
stall and continue to move the stratus and fog around, but do
little to dissipate any of it. Building upper level ridging across
the western Aleutians means another round of fog is likely as
warmer air stabilizes the atmosphere and traps the plentiful
atmospheric moisture close to the surface. Thus, fog and stratus
will persist for the foreseeable future with no strong systems yet
in sight offering any potential for their removal.

.LONG TERM FORECAST (Days 3 through 7)...
The end of the week will first be characterized by high pressure
over the Gulf, which will extend over Southcentral Alaska as well
as an upper level trough to the west that will bring rain to the
Eastern Aleutians and southwest Alaska. This pattern will hold
into the weekend, but will shift southeastward with the parent
surface low moving south of the Alaska Peninsula, and ridging
building in over the Bering and Aleutians Sunday into Monday. This
will bring showery conditions and he potential for some afternoon
convection to the southern Mainland through Monday afternoon.
Further west, guidance is showing a front moving into the western
Aleutians/Bering during the Sunday night Monday morning time
frame. Confidence remains lower in the timing and strength of this
feature, as guidance continues to struggle with the finer
details.
