FOR CENTRAL SPINK COUNTY...

At 805 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Redfield,
moving south at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. 

SOURCE...Radar indicated. 

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees. 

Locations impacted include...
Redfield, Tulare, Frankfort, Glendale Colony and Twin Lakes.

FOR SOUTH CENTRAL SPINK COUNTY...

At 815 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Tulare, or 7
miles southeast of Redfield, moving south at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. 

SOURCE...Trained weather spotter. At 755 pm, quarter size hail was 
         reported in Ashton. 

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees. 

Locations impacted include...
Tulare, Frankfort and Glendale Colony.

Updated pops/thunderstorm chances across most of the CWA with the
widespread intensification of convection.

.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Thursday)

Temperatures have easily soared into the 90s and 100s across the
region this afternoon. A couple of isolated locations across the far
eastern CWA also have heat index values right at the 100 degree mark
due to very high humidity. Expect temperatures to climb several more
degrees in the dry air across the western CWA.

The forecast challenge for the rest of the evening will be
thunderstorm chances/or lack-there-of. CAM solutions try hard to
develop isolated convection during daytime heating hours, but it is
in a very weakly forced and highly capped environment. 700 MB
temperatures west of the James Valley are progged in the 10-12 C
range. So, just kept isolated chances in the far western CWA along a
weak surface trough, and isolated chances across the far northeast
CWA where the CAP is weaker. The best shot at thunderstorms will
likely be after 6Z when shortwave energy slides across North Dakota
developing a complex that may drop southeast and clip the far
northeast CWA. This may also be enhanced by a weak LLJ nosing into
the far northeast CWA. Kept pops in through the overnight hours to
cover this potential.

Thursday will again be hot and dry with high temperatures in the 90s
across much of the region. RH values will drop into the teens and
20s out west, and northerly winds will increase into the 15 to 20
mph range. Therefore will be monitoring fire weather conditions very
closely, as we may be nearing red flag warning criteria.

.LONG TERM...(Thursday Night through Wednesday)

With surface high pressure over the region Thursday night, decided
to go a bit cooler than SuperBlend, which is typically too warm in
these scenarios. Opted to go more towards MET/MAV guidance, but not
quite as cool as we will be starting off the evening with rather hot
temperatures from the daytime. This high will drift across the
region Friday into Saturday, which looks to keep conditions dry. In
fact, much of the extended period looks to be dry with only small
chances for precip throughout. Models show various boundaries and
weak waves moving through the region, but nothing significant to
hang your hat on or anything that would lead to higher confidence in
precipitation in any given period during the extended time frame.
Temperatures look to remain hot through the period and have
increased highs a few degrees during days of hotter 850 mb temps.
Expect plenty of 90s and 100s during the period, with unfortunately,
not a lot of precipitation. It appears the drought conditions will
only expand and get worse.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of west central
Minnesota, central South Dakota, north central South Dakota, and
northeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Heat indices of 95 to 105 degrees can be expected today.

An isolated thunderstorm may develop late in the afternoon or
early evening and could become strong, although the best chance
for thunderstorms will be after midnight across far northeast
South Dakota and west central Minnesota as a system tracks
southeast out of North Dakota. Stronger storms may produce large
hail or damaging winds.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

The combination of breezy northerly winds, dry air, and warm
temperatures will produce high to very high fire danger for
counties along and west of the James River on Thursday.
