.UPDATE...
A cluster of storms is continuing its march southward through the
central FL peninsula this evening. Most of the heavier convection
is now south of the I-4 corridor...and inland from the I-75
corridor...although some residual trailing stratiform rain still
extends northward into parts of Sumter county and the Nature Coast
zones. Storms will be in the forecast for mostly the interior
southern zones for several more hours before finally dissipating.
Tale of two forecasts as of 830 PM...with dry conditions along
the immediate coast...and stormy inland.

Conditions will quiet down for all after midnight...and continue
into the morning hours of Monday. Main concern the next several
hours will be just monitoring the radar as the storms overspread
Highlands County...as this area has not seen much convection today
and still has the potential to support a few stronger updrafts.

.AVIATION (00Z TAFS)...
A few storms will still threaten KPGD/KFMY/KRSW through
03Z...followed by prevailing VFR conditions for the remainder of
the overnight. Northeasterly flow expected for Monday with
continued VFR through much of the day. Will again deal with the
potential for sct late afternoon/evening storms for all the
terminals...but otherwise no significant aviation concerns for
this TAF period.

SHORT TERM (Today and Monday)...
We continue to see a rather amplified weather pattern across the
CONUS this afternoon. As troughing continues to dig into the
Intermountain West, pervasive upper ridging continues to build
from the South Plains and northern Gulf into the Great Lakes.
Within this upper ridge, post- tropical cyclone Hermine has more
or less become trapped off the Mid-Atlantic coast within a
blocking pattern. The weak remnants of a surface trough extend
from Hermine southward into the Gulf of Mexico, which is playing a
role in our weather locally.

For today, weak convergence in the vicinity of the weak surface
trough continues to lead to scattered thunderstorm development.
Storms will likely become more numerous through the late
afternoon, especially across north central and central Florida.
High resolution models, such as the HRRR, depict a cluster or two
of slow moving storms developing first across the northern Florida
peninsula, then shifting southward within increasing northerly
flow. As winds then shift around to the northeast with high
pressure building in to the north, storms may shift off the
southwest Florida coast this evening. As this scenario seems
plausible, have opted to allow PoPs to linger over southern zones
for a few hours early tonight. Thereafter, expect gradual clearing
and drying through the overnight hours with storms mainly confined
to the Nature Coast and offshore zones.

On Monday, we will get back into a more typical summer pattern.
Deepening northerly flow aloft will shunt the weak trough
southward with slightly drier air moving into northern parts of
Florida. This may limit thunderstorm potential north of I-4, but a
more common east to northeast seabreeze flow pattern should allow
for decent storm coverage south of I-4 and especially along the
southwest Florida coast mid to late afternoon and early evening.
As is typical with summertime storms, a few may contain gusty
winds and frequent lightning.

Temperatures will get back to near or just above seasonal
normals. Highs will range from the mid/upper 80s along the coast
to the low 90s inland. Lows will range from the mid 70s inland to
the lower 80s along the coast.

MID TERM/LONG TERM (Tuesday Night-Sunday)...
Mid/upper level ridging sprawls across the southeast quarter of the
nation through about mid week. It then weakens late in the week and
for the weekend: as first an inverted trough moves across FL and the
Gulf, then as a short wave trough tracks from the Great Lakes to the
Northeastern States. Post-Tropical Cyclone Hermine lingers over the
Mid-Atlantic or New England coastal waters for much of the work
week. High pressure over the Southeast U.S. settles southward as it
elongates west to east...along the Central Gulf Coast...for the
weekend.

The high pressure initially north of the area will provide low level
northeasterly flow and some direr air...at least for the northern
part of the area. But as the high settles southward the flow become
east and southeast...tapping increasing moisture. showers and
thunderstorms will be mainly afternoon and evening. The rain
chances...from north to south...begin the period from less than 10
percent to 40 percent but gradually increase to 30-40 percent to 50-
60 percent. Temperatures will run around normal to just below.

MARINE...
Northerly flow will shift around to the northeast tonight
remaining rather light. High pressure will then intensify north of
the waters, bringing modest easterly wind surges both Monday and
Tuesday nights. Even with these surges, winds look to generally
remain 15 knots or less with seas less than 3 feet. The gradient
will weaken mid to late week, with lighter winds over the waters.
Any increase in winds or seas will be limited to marine
thunderstorms.

FIRE WEATHER...
A summer weather pattern will prevail through the next week with
relatively high afternoon humidities, and daily chances for
showers and thunderstorms. This will prevent any fire weather
concerns over the next several days.

HYDROLOGY...
Several rivers, including the Anclote, Alafia, Little Manatee,
and Myakka rivers, remain in major to moderate flood stage this
afternoon. These rivers are forecast to gradually recede over the
next few days, however, any locally heavy rainfall could prolong
existing flooding. Monitor the latest river forecasts and follow
any evacuation guidance from local and county authorities.
