.Prev Discussion [633 AM EDT]...

.Near Term [Through Today]...

Zonal flow aloft and surface high pressure over the southeast will
result in a sunny day across the area. Highs today will be a few
degrees below normal and will range from the upper 60s to lower
70s.

.Short Term [Tonight Through Tuesday]...

The large scale upper-level flow will feature a trough over the
eastern third of the CONUS, with the deepest portion of the trough
remaining over the Northeast. An upper-level short wave trough,
currently over south TX, will traverse our area tonight, but the
very stable troposphere and dry airmass will keep this feature
decoupled from the lower troposphere. Its only impact will be a
slight increase in clouds. At the surface, a ridge over the northern
Gulf of Mexico will dissipate Monday night as a weak cold front
translates southward over the forecast area. With low values of deep
layer moisture and large scale ascent, we do not expect any rain
with the front. A rather strong surface ridge will build over the
eastern CONUS Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures will be in the
mid to upper 70s, and lows in the mid 40s to lower 50s.

.Long Term [Tuesday Night Through Sunday]...

A deep-layer ridge will develop over the eastern CONUS on Wednesday,
followed quickly by an upper-level long wave trough, which will
become the dominant feature over much of the eastern CONUS for the
remainder of the period. Our next chance of rain will come Wednesday
afternoon through early Thursday morning as a cold front sweeps
southeastward through the region. Fairly strong forcing and modest
deep layer moisture suggest a good chance of rain, but with QPF
values of 0.50 in or less. The global models are in good agreement
in this being a classic low CAPE/high shear scenario, with MLCAPE
values below 500 J/kg and 0-6 km bulk shear magnitudes greater than
50 kt. Thus an isolated severe storm can't be ruled out.
Temperatures will turn a little below-average at the end of the
week.

.Aviation...
[Through 12Z Monday]... VFR conditions will prevail at all
terminals through the period.

.Marine...

The relatively strong pressure gradient early this morning will
rapidly weaken as a high pressure ridge builds across the northern
Gulf of Mexico this afternoon. After this morning, winds and seas
will remain below advisory levels through Tuesday.

.Fire Weather...

Relative humidity will be low at times this afternoon, but winds
will be light and the duration will not be long enough for red flag
conditions to be met. Fuels are also still wet from the
widespread rain the past several days.

.Hydrology...

Many of the rivers in our forecast area were in flood, including
(but not limited to) the Choctawhatchee, Chipola, Apalachicola,
Ochlockonee, Withlacoochee, St. Mark's, and Aucilla Rivers. There
was so much water dumped into these basins over the past week or
so that it will take a long time to channel the large volume of
water downstream, and we expect flooding to continue for several
days. The good news is that no rain is expected through Wednesday
morning, and the QPF for the next storm system is less than 0.50
inches (from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning). This
will then be followed by another stretch of dry weather.
