THAN EXPECTED AS RAIN MOVED INTO EAST ARKANSAS...BUT OVERALL THE
FORECAST LOOKS ON TRACK. MODERATE RAIN WITH SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT...SLOWLY SHIFTING ACROSS ALL
OF THE MIDSOUTH. LOWS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 50S TO NEAR 60
DEGREES. ANOTHER INCH OR TWO OF RAIN I EXPECTED TOMORROW WEST OF
THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER...WITH RAPIDLY DECREASING TOTALS TO THE
EAST.

A DEEP UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM CONTINUES TO SPIN ACROSS
NORTHWEST MEXICO AND WILL CONTINUE TO DIG INTO NORTH CENTRAL
MEXICO OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS BEFORE LIFTING NORTHEAST TOWARDS THE
MID SOUTH OVER THE WEEKEND. A LEAD SHORTWAVE DISTURBANCE LIFTING
OUT OF NORTHEAST TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON CONTINUES TO GENERATE A
ROBUST LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FROM THE CENTRAL PLAINS
INTO THE ARKLATEX REGION. THIS SHORTWAVE SHOULD CONTINUE NORTHEAST
OVERNIGHT MOVING INTO THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY BY WEDNESDAY
MORNING. THE LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD MOVE EAST
INTO AREAS MAINLY ALONG AND WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER TONIGHT.
THE LINE SHOULD SLOW ITS EASTWARD PROGRESS AND EVENTUALLY STALL
OUT NEAR THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER TOWARDS DAWN. THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD
ALSO WEAKEN WITH EASTWARD EXTENT AS INSTABILITY WANES AND THE
STORMS MOVE INTO AN AREA OF WARMER TEMPERATURES ALOFT.
LOW TEMPERATURES SHOULD REMAIN QUITE MILD OVERNIGHT WITH MOST
LOCATIONS REMAINING IN THE 60S.
THERE MAY BE A BRIEF LULL IN ACTIVITY WEDNESDAY MORNING AS THE
SHORTWAVE LIFTS NORTHEAST OF THE REGION. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
SHOULD AGAIN BECOME WIDESPREAD BY AFTERNOON AS A SECONDARY
STRONGER SHORTWAVE APPROACHES FROM THE SOUTHWEST IN ADVANCE OF THE
UPPER LOW. TROPICAL MOISTURE SHOULD BE THRUST NORTHWARD FROM
CENTRAL AMERICA TO THE EAST OF THE UPPER LOW INTO OUR REGION.
ANONYMOUSLY HIGH PW/S APPROACHING 2 INCHES...WHICH IS EVEN ABOVE
WHAT IS TYPICAL FOR MID TO LATE SUMMER...ARE EXPECTED. AS LIFT
AHEAD OF THE WAVE INTERACTS WITH THIS DEEP TROPICAL
MOISTURE...VERY HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF THE
MID SOUTH. LATEST MODEL GUIDANCE HAS TRENDED BACK TO THE EAST WITH
THE HEAVIEST AXIS OF PRECIPITATION WHICH NOW RUNS ALONG AND WEST
OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER THROUGH FRIDAY. SEVERAL ROUNDS OF SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THIS PERIOD SHOULD RESULT IN SEVERAL
INCHES OF RAINFALL. THERE IS EVEN SOME POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED
EXTREME AMOUNTS GREATER THAN 10 INCHES. IT STILL REMAINS TOO EARLY
TO PINPOINT EXACT LOCATIONS OF THIS POTENTIAL...BUT IT DOES EXIST

ON WEDNESDAY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL SLOWLY MOVE EAST
