* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 14.0 feet by
Saturday evening then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 14.0 feet...Some roads upstream from
Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the community of
Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have two to three
feet of water over the road and are subject to being closed.
Flooding of forested areas near the river will also occur.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is rising and
the gauge reading is forecast to reach 12 feet or higher. Roads
upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the
community of Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have
water on them and are subject to being closed. Also, flooding of

* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 14.0 feet by
tomorrow early afternoon then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 14.0 feet...Some roads upstream from
Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the community of
Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have two to three
feet of water over the road and are subject to being closed.
Flooding of forested areas near the river will also occur.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is rising and
the gauge reading is forecast to reach 12 feet or higher. Roads
upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the
community of Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have
water on them and are subject to being closed. Also, flooding of
forested areas near the river will occur.

front looks to come in late this eve with a chance for some

DISCUSSION...
A rather benign weather day underway this morning with a surface
high centered over southern Missouri contributing to our calm
winds and concordant areas of patchy fog. Said fog may be a bit
slower to dissipate this morning as the region once again finds
itself shrouded in a low level cloud deck thanks to an abundance
of low level moisture. It's likely that this cloud deck will persist
throughout the day casting a dreary shadow on what will otherwise
be a nice day.
The aforementioned high will be unceremoniously shoved off to the
east by this evening as the much advertised "Arctic Blast" cold
front approaches the area. Guidance is in pretty good agreement
that the front will be through the area and offshore by noon
Thursday. A tight pressure gradient will accompany the front and
while it will turn breezy across the entire area Thursday
afternoon, the effects of the gradient will be seen the most
offshore where gusts of 35-40 knots are anticipated. A Gale Watch
has been issued from 12Z Thursday through 12Z Friday. Seas are
expected to be in the 7-9 foot range from 20-60 NM offshore.
Temperatures behind the front will turn quite chilly. A freeze is
expected north of the I-10 corridor Thursday night into Friday
and afternoon highs on Friday only in the mid to upper 40's. The
coldest temperatures will be Saturday morning where freezing
temperatures could extend to near the coast and a hard freeze
will be possible across parts of central Louisiana. Temps begin to
moderate Saturday as high pressure shifts east and winds southerly
in advance of the next cold front, the timing of which the long
range models are split.
The GFS and Canadian indicate a more aggressive front which
quickly swings through the area Sunday afternoon while a slower
Euro doesn't get the front through the area until monday
afternoon. Thus, consensus model blending errs on the side of the
majority and therefore shows higher Pops Sunday afternoon into
Sunday night but still holds on to low end pops through Monday
afternoon out of respect for the Euro. Plenty of time to further
refine that in the coming days.
The progressive pattern continues into the middle and latter part
of next week as guidance indicates another front swinging across
the area Wednesday and again on Friday
MARINE...
A Gale watch has been issued from Thursday morning through Friday
morning for coastal waters out 60 NM. Offshore winds behind a
cold front pushing through the area Thursday morning will gust to
35-40 knots. Seas will be in the 7-9 foot range from 20-60 NM
offshore. Winds will moderate during the day Friday.
