.AVIATION...
The frontal system that pushed through the area yesterday evening
has turned winds westerly overnight and this morning. However,
there remains quite a bit of low level moisture over the area
which has resulted in a widespread stratus deck. There is some
question this morning as to exactly where the back edge of this
stratus deck is located as infrared and water vapor satellite
imagery are somewhat in conflict with observing stations. The
relative warmth of a cloud deck only a few hundred feet off the
ground makes it difficult for infrared to pick up...a problem that
will quickly resolve itself with the coming dawn. In the meantime,
will maintain IFR CIGS in TAFS through mid morning.

The other issue this morning is the potential for fog development.
Thus far, winds have remained high enough to prevent significant
fog formation, but further west into texas, where winds have
calmed, significant reductions in visibility are noted at this
hour. The greatest chance for fog development this morning will be
at BPT where winds may calm enough before sunrise for fog
development. Will continue to monitor this but opted to leave out
of TAF for the time being.

Expect CIGS to improve by late morning to MVFR but heights and
density may vary significantly across the area today based on
location.

Fog is more likely overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning as low
level moisture is expected to remain in place initially yielding
another very low cloud deck that will likely descend to the
ground during the predawn hours.

DISCUSSION...
Latest sfc analysis shows the low which moved through the region
yesterday is now located over nrn MS...while weak high pressure is
noted over the wrn Gulf which is providing the forecast area with
a slightly elevated wrly flow this morning. Water vapor imagery
shows the mid/upper-level low crossing into wrn MS at this time...
and regional 88Ds show some lingering light shower activity
associated with it well to our northeast. Sfc obs show low
ceilings persisting across the region thanks to abundant wrap-
around moisture from the departing low...wouldn't be surprised if
some areas mainly across the nern zones are seeing a few spits of
light precip falling from this thick stratus deck. One thing we're
not seeing quite yet is any fog development as the back edge of
the low cloudiness is just now about to enter the wrn zones...
although a few stations upstream are beginning to show some
restrictions to visibility.

Primary issue today looks to be fog potential for this morning as
the wrly flow setting up through the column should provide for
drying, especially across the srn 1/2 of the forecast area. As
stated before, satellite imagery/sfc obs indicate clearing skies
moving into the forecast area at the moment...main question looks
to be how much winds can decouple prior to sunrise. Current
projections show the best shot for this looks to be the wrn 1/3 of
the area where the gradient will relax the most behind the
departing low. Inherited a patchy fog mention across the entire
area through mid-morning which will be kept for now just in case.

A weak sfc low noted over nrn TX this morning is progged to drop
sewd toward the forecast area through today, which will allow a
weak srly flow to set up by later...ushering in a bit of low-level
moisture. Some weak isentropic lift is noted later today and
especially through tonight across the nrn zones...and patchy
drizzle was inserted into the grids/zones to account. This weak
lift is expected to be brief and be on the wane by morning.

A significant shortwave moving out of the Rockies will help push a
strong cold front into the region Wednesday night. Deep moisture
is progged to be confined to a rather narrow ribbon in advance of
the front, but forecast soundings indicate it will be sufficient
enough for scattered showers into Thursday morning as the front
sweeps through the area.

Strong Canadian high pressure is progged to build over the
forecast area for late in the week with the coldest temperatures
of the season expected. Lows across the nern zones are forecast to
drop to the mid 20s for Friday and Saturday mornings...with most
of the rest of the area seeing freezing temps both mornings (the
coastal areas should remain just above freezing for now). Highs on
Friday will fail to get out of the 40s as of now. A warmup looks
on tap beginning later Saturday as high pressure moves east of the
area and a srly flow ushers in warmer air off the Gulf.

With a progressive pattern in place, another round of precip looks
possible late in the weekend as another disturbance aloft crosses
the wrn Gulf region and works with increasing moisture.

MARINE...
SCA conditions should coming to an end over the coastal waters
shortly and the advisory will be allowed to expire at 12Z. Main
focus continues to be on the next round of strong nrly winds
behind the cold front for Thursday. Sustained winds may wind up
approaching gale force...with gusts almost certainly exceeding
such criteria. No flags will be raised at this time as we're still
a couple of days out, but wouldn't be surprised to see a watch
hoisted at some point today or tonight.
