advisory for the following rivers in Southwest Lower Michigan...
Grand River At Ionia affecting Ionia County
Sycamore Creek At Holt affecting Ingham County
Maple River At Maple Rapids affecting Clinton County
.The current weather is dominated by a storm system bringing
multiple precipitation types to the area. This will produce
precipitation amounts ranging from a half to three quarters of an
inch. Additional water is moving into the rivers from melting snow.
The extended outlook is for lake effect snow and colder temperatures.
The following forecast is based on observed and forecast 48 hour
precipitation.

.A large storm system will continue moving through the Great Lakes
Region overnight. A variety of precipitation has been observed
through the evening with most locations changing to rain.
Precipitation totals have exceeded forecast values through portions
of Southwest Lower Michigan with heavier rain running from about
South Haven to Grand Rapids through Mount Pleasant, including
locations to the north and west. Additional rainfall will only add to
these amounts through midnight.
Rainfall is expected to taper off after midnight with conditions
trending quieter through Wednesday morning. Lighter precipitation
amounts, including snow, may move back in by mid-morning Wednesday.
River forecasts may need adjustment in accordance with final realized
totals. The following forecast is based on observed and forecast 24
hour precipitation.

.Colder temperatures and weak areas of low pressure will be resulting
in periodic episodes of lake effect snow over the next several days.
Minor accumulations are possible tonight and Friday night. No large
impact storm systems are expected at least through the weekend.
Overall precipitation amounts are forecast to be light and are not
expected to lead to any additional rises on area streams and rivers.

Lower Michigan...
Maple River At Maple Rapids affecting Clinton County
A large portion of Southwest Lower Michigan will only see light snow
and flurries in episodes through the next several days. Heavier
snowfall amounts should remain localized within 30 miles or so
from the Lake Michigan shoreline. Little or minor accumulation may
result further inland. Colder temperatures will prevent snowfall
from becoming runoff in the near future. Primary concerns going
forward are more directly related to fluctuations resulting from any
ice build up through the weekend. The situation will continue to be
monitored through the week. The following forecast is based on
observed and forecast 24 hour precipitation.

A STORM SYSTEM WILL COME OUT OF THE PLAINS TODAY AND BRING A GOOD
DEAL OF PRECIPITATION TO THE AREA BEGINNING THIS AFTERNOON AND
LASTING INTO THE EVENING HOURS. THE PRECIPITATION WILL START OUT AS
MAINLY RAIN ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-96...WHILE AREAS NORTH WILL SEE
PRECIPITATION START OUT AS SNOW AND TRANSITION THROUGH A MIX OF
SLEET AND POSSIBLY FREEZING RAIN BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO ALL RAIN IN
THE EVENING.
PRECIPITATION WILL THEN CHANGE FROM RAIN WEDNESDAY MORNING TO SNOW

U.S.-10 CORRIDOR COUNTIES WITH THIS FCST PACKAGE. THIS REMAINS FOR A
COMBINATION OF LIGHT SNOW AMOUNTS...AND A WINTRY MIX OF PCPN BEFORE
THINGS CHANGE OVER TO RAIN TONIGHT.
THE TREND FOR THE DELAY IN PCPN ARRIVING INTO THE CWFA TODAY IS
GOING TO ALLOW FOR A LITTLE MORE WARMING TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE PCPN
MAKES IT INTO THE AREA. THIS IS GOING TO PRETTY MUCH TAKE OUT LEGIT
SNOW CHANCES ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-96 EXCEPT FOR SOME LIGHT PCPN THAT
MIGHT FLOAT THROUGH OUT AHEAD OF THE MAIN PCPN THAT WILL MOVE IN
AROUND OR AFTER 18Z TODAY.
PCPN WILL BREAK OUT THIS AFTERNOON AS THE STRONG LLJ ARRIVES AND
PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT MOISTURE TRANSPORT. THIS STRONG LLJ WILL ALSO
SUPPORT SOME WINDS UP TO AROUND 40 MPH AT THE SFC. FCST SOUNDINGS
INDICATE THAT SOME SNOW OR SLEET WILL BE THE INITIAL P-TYPE. AS
TEMPS ALOFT GO ABOVE FREEZING BY 03Z...PCPN WILL CHANGE TO RAIN
EVERYWHERE. SOME LOCATIONS ALONG U.S.-10 COULD SEE A LITTLE FREEZING
RAIN WITH EVAP COOLING BRINGING/KEEPING TEMPS AROUND FREEZING FOR A
LITTLE WHILE BEFORE PCPN GOES TO ALL RAIN. THIS WOULD BE SHORT IN
DURATION...WITH ANY ICE ACCUMS REMAINING LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN

THUNDER REMAINS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE CWFA FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON
