.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

The Oconee River near Oconee.
* From Saturday afternoon until further notice.
* At 1230 PM Friday the stage was 8.8 feet...and rising.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by Saturday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 22.1 feet by Monday morning.
* At 21 feet...Moderate flooding begins. The dirt parking lot by
the Old Balls Ferry Road boat ramp is under one to three feet of
water. The end of Old Balls Ferry Road begins to flood. Flooding
continues and spreads further into the woodlands near the river.

The Ocmulgee River near Macon.
* From this afternoon until Sunday afternoon.
* At 1230 PM Friday the stage was 17.7 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
continue to rise to near 18.7 feet by Saturday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 19 feet...Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway
Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will begin to flood in areas just north of
the Martin Luther King Boulevard bridge. The public should not use
this portion of the trail. In addition...the lowest sections of the
Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood. Portions of agricultural
lands well downstream will be under two feet of water.

below flood stage by early Saturday.
* At 22 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the
woodlands and fields along the river of the Oconee National Forest
upstream and downstream from the gage on Georgia Highway 16 or
Monticello Road.

* At 315 PM Friday the stage was 20.1 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 20.5 feet by this evening.
The river will fall below flood stage Saturday evening.
* At 21 feet...Minor flooding expands. An increasing amount of the
Macon GreenWay Ocmulgee Heritage Trail floods north of the Martin
Luther King Boulevard bridge. The flood waters will be up to two
feet deep on portions of the trail and both banks overflow upstream
from the bridge. Large portions of agricultural lands east of Macon
and well downstream will be under 1 to 4 feet of water.

* At 245 PM Friday the stage was 9.3 feet...and rising.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early Saturday and continue
to rise to near 23.4 feet by Monday early afternoon.
* At 23 feet...Moderate flooding continues. Portions of the Old
Balls Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp becomes flooded with a
foot of water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat
ramp is under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of
the woodlands near the river continues.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Chattahoochee River near Columbus.
* Until late Saturday night.
* At 315 PM Friday the stage was 30.8 feet...and steady.
* Minor flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* The river will remain nearly steady and fall below flood stage
by Saturday evening.
* At 32 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand along the river
upstream and downstream from the gage on the 14th Street bridge.
Large portions of the River Walk in Columbus will be completely
covered with flowing water up to 5 feet deep. Flood waters reach
the maintenance doors underneath the Columbus Convention and Trade
Center. The Phenix City Amphitheater in Alabama will be flooded up
to 4 feet deep. Portions of the River Walk in Phenix City will be
under two feet of water.

* Moderate flooding is occurring...and Moderate flooding is forecast
to continue for the next several hours.
* Flood stage is 13 feet.
* The river will continue to fall...dropping below flood stage late
Saturday morning.
* At 17 feet...Moderate flooding occurs with significant flooding
in the woodlands along the creek in the Piedmont National Wildlife
Refuge...upstream and downstream from the gage on Round Oak-Juliette
Road. The rapid flow is almost double the volume compared to the
flow at flood stage level.
