.Hydrologic Summary...Continued warm temperatures through next week will
cause high snowmelt rates in the mountains of southeast Wyoming. These high 
snowmelt rates will lead to high river levels along the Upper North Platte River
this upcoming week. A few showers and thunderstorms are also possible
on Monday and Tuesday which may accelerate snowmelt rates.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas. Move to higher ground. The water 
may be deep enough to float you and your vehicle. Turn around, don't

The next few days will feature increasing chances for afternoon
showers and thunderstorms as a Pacific storm system treks east
across the Great Basin. For today, moisture increasing from the west
ahead of this system will combine with a weak disturbance moving
overhead from the northwest to spark off convection mainly along
and west of the Laramie Range. Can't rule out a storm or two
moving off the Laramie Range toward I-25 within WNW flow aloft,
but limited instability will prevent convection from persisting
much further beyond the interstate. Slightly better orographic
forcing is progged for Monday as easterly flow in the llvls
strengthens ahead of the approaching upper system. Again, the
focus for showers/storms will be along and west of I-25 as warm
air aloft and the possibility of upslope stratus tonight through
Monday mid-morning should maintain a more stable environment
further east across the plains. Instability progs continue to
hover around 1000 J/kg over the mountains tho so would not be
surprised to see a few vigorous storms develop over this area and
produce gusty winds and small hail.

Sfc winds across the plains will veer to the southeast on Monday
night and Tuesday essentially opening the door for gulf moisture to
advect northward into our area. The often conservative GFS is on par
with the NAM with respect to moisture advection for Tuesday, with
both consistently bringing up dews in the mid to upper 50s into the
plains. Good sfc convergence is progged along the Laramie Range,
and when combined with upslope forcing and upper level dynamics
from the approaching shortwave, will see a good chance for
scattered showers and storms in the high country Tuesday
afternoon. Sbcape values exceeding 2000 J/kg are possible
vicinity Laramie Range so it's likely for intense pulse storms to
fire over this area, dropping moderate rain and perhaps severe
hail and wind. However, shear is marginal so it's not likely
we'll see organized severe convection. Instability progs over the
Snowy and Sierra Madre mountains are in the vicinity of 1000 J/kg
as well, so can't rule out strong storms here too. Bumped up PoPs
to reflect this thinking. Forecast soundings show a rather strong
cap east of I-25 which should limit development and strength of
any storms that move eastward off the mountains. Kept this area
dry for now.

.LONG TERM...(Tuesday Night through Saturday)

Following the trend of best coverages of scattered showers and
thunderstorms over the mountains and west of Interstate 25 going
into Tuesday evening...thinking the cap will mostly hold farther
east into the western Nebraska Panhandle early in the evening. By
Wednesday the main upper low and associated trough moves east with
weak ridging aloft leading to drier air aloft and slightly less
coverages of showers and thunderstorms across the mountains and
foothills. Ridging aloft will also result in warmer midlevel
temperatures Wednesday through late in the week which will also
mean warmer temperatures for the higher elevations above 9000 ft
and increased snowmelt next week.

For this update we continued with a mention of VCTS for Cheyenne
and Laramie this afternoon given potential for isolated storms to
develop over the Snowy and south Laramie Ranges and move east over
the Laramie Valley and though the foothills to near Cheyenne.
Chances for thunderstorms in these areas too small to include any
kind of prevailing period for thunderstorms at this time.
Otherwise expect VFR category to prevail at all airport for the
next 24 hours.

Warmer overnight temperatures in the lower 40s with daytime highs
in the lower 60s in the higher elevations above 9000 ft will

river forecasts, the streams/rivers in southeast Wyoming are still
