.DISCUSSION...
Satellite pics suggest that the old weather front along a line
from about Point Hope to Bethel has been weakening recently,
pretty much as the models would have. The surface front will
likely remain nearly stationary and dissipate as its supporting
short wave trough aloft rides east around the ridge aloft and
drops into the long wave trough over eastern mainland Alaska and
the Gulf of Alaska. The front will have little impact on our
arctic zones from Barrow east, and will not generate much snow
west of Barrow (or much wind, except near Lisburne). Probably
not even flurries over our western interior zones.

Another weather front, this one over the central Bering Sea, looks
pretty tough at present, but the models have the ridge aloft
presently over the eastern Bering Sea building as it moves east,
so that most of the front's energy heads north over eastern
Russia and beyond. Expect another rough night on Saint Lawrence
Island Thursday night, but probably no advisory conditions, an
little excitement farther east.

Interior Alaska will remain in an area of light flow aloft, but
the surface high centered over the western interior will continue
to build as it moves northeast, and moderate gap winds through
the Alaska Range will continue through Thursday.
