.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Monday Afternoon)

Pesky clouds have again hindered the temperatures by several
degrees.
Windy, very warm, and dry will describe later tonight into
Monday. The sfc high that was overhead this morning has shifted
east into much of MN and IA. It's further eastward progression,
and low pressure organizing across MT/WY will increase the
pressure gradient overhead. Warmer and stronger southerly winds
will be the rule overnight, as 850mb temps go from a CWA average
of 6C this afternoon to around 18C by daybreak Monday. The
strengthening low level jet will also have an impact on the lee
side of the Sisseton Hills, as strong downslope winds take hold,
especially from 09Z through the rest of the morning hours Monday.
As previously noted earlier this morning, Wind Advisory criteria
may be met or exceeded during this time.
Expect the sfc low to shift into far southwestern ND by 12Z Monday.
The low will shift to northeastern ND around 18Z Monday, pushing a
cold front across the center of our CWA. Behind this boundary,
strengthening westerly winds will be the rule. This will also be
near the time of peak heating, when temperatures rise into the
upper 70s to low 80s over the southwestern quarter of the CWA, and
drier air works in allowing dewpoints to fall into the low 30s and
even upper 20s. RH values in the 15 to 25 percent range will be
common, elevating fire weather concerns from 18Z Monday-00Z
Tuesday. The Fire Weather Watch remains in effect. The main
concern with an upgrade is the borderline criteria being met, and
the fact that clouds lingering a couple more hours could have a
serious limiting factor on the temperatures. Overall, temperatures
will be 15 to 35 degrees above the normal highs for this time of
year, which range from the low to mid 50s. With strong winds
sliding in behind the front, have hoisted a Wind Advisory for
Corson and Dewey Counties (mainly for the afternoon hours).

Mostly dry conditions are expected through the extended period.
Above average high temperatures will also persist, especially
Thursday through Saturday as an upper ridge and sfc high pressure
builds over the central U.S. Temperatures in the 60s to lower 70s
are expected through the week.

Another day of lower clouds remains. IFR ceilings are common, and
while fcst solutions do indicate rising heights for a while
tonight, confidence is low. Other than these pesky clouds, the
main concern aviation wise will be increasing southerly winds at
ATY and a lesser extent ABR as a low level jet develops later
tonight. LLWS was mentioned at ATY. Faster clearing of the clouds,
and better mixing will occur out west as a cold front moves in
from the west late in the period. Still included a period of LLWS
at both PIR and MBG. As a heads-up, stronger winds will be
possible after 18Z at PIR and MBG.
