.Near Term [Through Tonight]...
There are no significant changes to the previous forecast for
tonight. We'll be monitoring for a possible dense fog advisory
later this evening if visibilities start to drop more
significantly.
An upper level ridge is situated over the Atlantic while the SE
remains in Southwesterly to Southerly flow. The bulk of the deep
layer moisture continues to remain north and west of the CWA and
thus PoPs are limited through tonight. If anything, cannot rule out
a sprinkle across the western part of the CWA but not expecting
anything measurable. Guidance is in good agreement with suggesting
fog overnight again, some of it being dense and thus have included
areas of dense fog in the grids.
For low temperatures tonight, went on the warmer side of guidance
and with clouds expected tonight, may still be a tad bit low.
Forecast minimum temperature for TLH (64 degrees) is near a high
minimum temperature record (record is 65 degrees for December 26).

[Through 00z Sunday] Fog and low ceilings will be the main concern
overnight. Some areas of dense fog are expected with
visibilities dropping to near airport minimums at times. Fog and
ceilings are expected to lift during the mid-morning hours.

.Short Term [Saturday Through Sunday Night]...
An upper low over the Desert Southwest will deepen as it translates
eastward through Texas over the weekend further enhancing downstream
ridging mainly along and east of the Mississippi River. Record high
temperatures will continue with highs both days in the lower to mid
80s for most inland areas. The low pressure system will become
stacked over northwest Arkansas Sunday night with the attendant
surface cold front pushing eastward along the Gulf coast. A few
showers and thunderstorms ahead of the front may reach our western
zones Sunday afternoon with a better chance (30-40%)Sunday night.
Low temps will be in the lower to mid 60s except around 70 near
the coast with widespread fog developing Saturday night and
possibly across our eastern zones Sunday night.
.Long Term [Monday Through Friday]...
A line of showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front will
move across the forecast area on Monday. With favorable shear and
modest instability, a few strong to severe storms are possible.
The front is forecast to gradually weaken and stall over or just
south of our CWA late Monday or Tuesday as the mid-upper level
flow becomes southwesterly. Models continue to show that
additional upper level energy will move into the Gulf during the
middle of the week, helping to push deep moisture back north
across the stalled boundary. A broad trough is forecast to develop
east of the Rockies late in the week with another cold front
pushing into our region on Friday. We will see rain chances with
above seasonal temps each day although max temps Friday should be
closer to what we would expect for New Year's Day.
.Marine...
Southeast to south winds will continue over the coastal waters
through Monday. Winds will occasionally reach exercise caution
levels, especially by late Sunday into Monday as a cold front
approaches. Winds will weaken late Monday into midweek as the
front stalls over the region.
.Fire Weather...
Red flag conditions will not occur for the next several days.
.Hydrology...
Significant river flooding is in progress across Southeast Alabama
and Southwestern Georgia. Most notable is the Pea River, which has
reached record stage at Ariton and is forecast to reach near record
stage at Elba. Points along the Choctawhatchee are expected to reach
moderate flood stage, with Bruce reaching major flood stage. The
Kinchafoonee Creek at Dawson has also reached major flood stage.
Releases at the Woodruff Dam will lead to moderate flooding of the
Apalachicola at Blountstown.
