* Impact: At 27.0 feet...Highway 141 at I-44 begins to flood.
* Impact: At 26.0 feet...Ashland Chemical Plant needs to pull their
pumps to avoid damage.
* Impact: At 25.0 feet...Major flooding begins. At this level,
houses along Rock Alva Drive (next to Tapawingo Golf Club) start to
flood. Also, Fenton Greenway Park is flooded.
* Impact: At 24.0 feet...Water reaches top of boat ramp at Valley
Park Public Fishing Access. Also, the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park
begins flooding near this height.
* Impact: At 23.5 feet...Riverfront parking area of Minnie Ha Ha Park
across the river from Fenton begins flooding near this height.

force the park to use the rear entrance as the primary entrance to
the park.
* Impact: At 11.5 feet...A small bridge in the back of Meramec State
Park park is flooded, cutting the park in two. If the river
continues to rise...park officials will evacuate the campgrounds at
this point.

Upper level HIGH remains anchored over the southeastern CONUS early
this morning and maintains a weak SW flow aloft over our region that
originates from the western Gulf of Mexico. A very moist airmass
thru the column continues to prevail over much of our region
featuring PWs of around 2.25 inches. A stream of upper level
disturbances extends from eastern OK thru the STL metro area and
into central IN. Bill is now a tropical depression and was slightly
to the west of Houston, TX. One wave of heavy rainfall has exited
our area and dumped a widespread 1 to 3 inches of rainfall for many
areas near and south and east of the STL metro area, where a Flood
Advisory was recently expanded and extended until late morning.
Unfortunately, new rain is forming back into central MO and is
moving back into these rain soaked areas. The models are also quite
insistent on explosive new development back into southwest MO just
before 12z this morning and the radar mosaic shows some new cells
currently. A surface front was in the process of forming back to
the north into far northern MO and central IL with a light south
flow over much of the area. Otherwise, temps were in the upper 60s
and lower 70s for most areas.
Model data continues to show good consensus on rain filling back in
a narrow ribbon from near and a bit north of I-44, covering some of
central MO and southeast MO, much of STL metro, and much of
southwest IL. This is then expected to continue until around midday
with rain then scattering out thru the afternoon. Have followed
these trends in PoPs, forecasting above MOS PoPs at all locations.
The tropical nature of the column may limit thunder early on, but
lack of thunder is not expected to preclude additional heavy
rainfall potential.
Needless to say, the Flash Flood Watch continues thru this period.
Continued to lean on the warm side of MOS for max temps once again,
especially if the scattering out of pcpn in the afternoon indeed
occurs. Temps then may be not warm enough.

.LONG TERM: (Tonight through Tuesday)

Focus continues to be flooding threat thru the end of the week.
Mdls continue to be in good agreement pulling remnants of TD Bill
newd thru the srn half of the CWA Fri into Sat. With the track still
expected to be across the srn portions of the CWA, will leave the
FFA as is for now.
The brief lull from this afternoon is expected to persist thru the
eve hours. With the LLJ increasing thru the night, expect precip to
develop across srn portions of the CWA along a convergence zone
ahead of the approaching low. The GFS has slowed the progression of
this low once again compared to 24 hrs ago, while the ECMWF remains
fairly consistent.
Mdls are in fairly good agreement with remnants of TD Bill pulling E
of the region on Sat, tho wud not be surprised if mdls continue to
slow down this timing. Regardless, seems clear that as this low
pulls out of the area, SW flow returns to the area with a thermal
ridge building into the area ahead of the next approaching cdfnt.
The GFS is cooler than the ECMWF, but given the height rises progd
by both mdls, have begun a warming trend thru next week.
Have kept lower PoPs going with differences in location of the sfc
fnt among mdl guidance.

Area of showers with a few embedded thunderstorms should shift
east of COU around 18Z and move through the St Louis metro area
this afternoon, clipping UIN on the northern fringes of the rain
area. Should be mainly MVFR cigs this afternoon. The ceiling
should rise into the VFR catagory this evening with a break in the
rain. Another batch of showers and a few storms will move up from
the southwest into our area late tonight and continue Thursday
morning. The cloud ceilings may drop into the MVFR catagory early
Thursday morning. Swly surface winds will continue through the
period.
Specifics for KSTL: Showers and a few storms will move through STL
this afternoon with ceilings possibly dropping into the MVFR
catagory. Another batch of rain with embedded storms will move up
from southwest MO into STL by early Thursday morning. The ceiling
height may drop into the MVFR catagory Thursday morning. A
southwest wind will continue through the period.
